Default CKP sensor wired backwards?

What would happen if I had the two wires for the CKP sensor backwards? I'm trying to figure out my timing problem, and looking at the wiring conversion for the dizzy, I can see messing those up, since the wires are blue/green and blue/yellow, and I can't easily distinguish green and yellow. I'm not throwing any codes though. I remember seeing the pickup and it's a sort of tapered pickup, would it throw timing off if it were backwards, but still work? As it is, I can't get the car to run with correct timing, but it idles and runs around 10 degrees advanced, but of course it runs like ****, like it's 10* advanced!
