I'm so upset right now I don't even like to think about anything right now. I had some financial set backs keeping me from getting my K-swap before Niagara this year.
I missed Niagara last year first one I've missed since I started going at N6. The year before that I drove my beater hatch. My CRX has been down for 3 years, and now I have a hair up, my *** and want to drive my CR-X again. Now here is my dilema I'm facing currently. I want to get my CR-X back together. I want to go to Niagara, I also want a K20A Type-R swap. There is no way I can get a K swap by Niagara, w/o anything short of illegal activity.
What I can do is buy a B16A LSD swap, and drive my car to Niagara. I figure I can put a stock B16A LSD swap in my car, drive it for the summer, and buy a K-swap at the end of the summer, and put it in over the winter. Then I will have an extra LSD B swap laying around for future projects, mabey even throw it in my beater. This is my first option.
Option 2: Buy an old car of mine, that has a B16 with a gernaded tranny, and an issue causing it not to start for $1500. The car has a JDM frontend, rear spoiler, taillights, and is painted S2K Suzuka blue, and has an ST sway bar, gutted interior, Koyo Rad, Autopower roll bar, and misc. other small upgrades. The paint and body work are showing their age, and I would basicly buy it for the motor, use my extra b16 tranny I have, put it in my CR-X for the summer, then transplant the running combination into the Blue car at the end of the summer, fix the body up a little and sell it for a profit. Buy a K for the CR-X, and get it done over the winter. The problem I have is I don't really have room for another project vehicle. I have 2 Hondas, and a Suzuki Samurai now. The nice thing though, there is pontential for profit, with the Blue Hatch.
Option 3: Buy a B16 LSD swap, put it my CR-X, drive it to Niagara. During the summer over the winter, build my b18 block, sleave it to a 2.0l, get the head ported, get BC stg IV cams, 52MM TWMs, 12.5:1 Comp pistons, rods the whole deal, and rock a B. The problem I have with that, is built to the hilt, it will probally only make 220-240whp. I can get that with a fairly stock K, and have much more reliability.
Option 4: Leave the CR-X sit, get a K by the end of July, early August, and get it back together then. Drive it for a few months and figure out what else I want to do. Tear it down over the winter, and do more stuff to it. This would obviously be the lazy approach require way less work, and would negate my Niagara trip, allthough I'm sure I could hitch a ride with somebody, it isn't the same w/o your own car. This approach would get me the K swap sooner, for no extra money spent on other stuff.
Option 5: Buy the blue car, transplant the motor into my CR-X with my tranny. Sell my current beater car for 1K, drive my CR-X to Niagara, drive it till I can get the K swap, then put the drivetran back into the blue car. In the mean time the Blue car will sit. Buy a K for the CR-X, Blue car become new beater, or possibly sell, and replace with other beater transportation. Pluses of this option, low cost, go to Niagara, get the K quicker, mabey make some money along the way. Also the possibilty of getting some type of new beater.
Amazingly enough option 4, and option 3 are very close in price, and Option 4 is a little cheaper I've done the math, and the spreadsheets tell all. I'm really on the fence with all of this. Anyway I go, I will have a 240whp, corner carving, adrenaline pumping, auto-x anihilating, hell of a fun CRX, the question is, what path do I take to get there? I'm on the fence here help me out guys. BTW none of the options are in any kind of order.

all I will say is not option 3... if you want to go k-series, go k-series. No matter how you build the b18, it isnt the motor you want for the project, so you wont ever really be happy with it.
i say take your beater to niagara. putting a b16 in your crx will basically get you two working beaters (since b16s arent really high-performance engines imo).

Either way I go the b16 is just temporary, I just really want to get my CRX back on the road. I've outgrown it's effectivness in providing enough power to keep me happy. Your probally right about the anything, but 3 comment. The only reasons I would be partial to retaining B series, is that a B was designed to fit in an EF, and I would be able to run ITBs, w'o cutting my hood. I'm not sure how hard it is to work on a K in a CR-X, but I'm in the middle of a H22 swap in an EG, and it's pretty much a pull the engine to do anything to it affair. Thats why the fact it is designed for a B, kinda entices me.

I lhave to agree that option three is a no go, simply because you don't want a built b-series, you want a k-series.
I would go with option #2. You are able to go to niagara, and you are able to get your k-series in by the end of the year. Which are the two things you want most. There's no way you can get a k-series in time, so mine as well make some profit.
It all comes down to if you have the room or not, for those project cars.

It seems like there is a good amount of useful things still on the other car, so that's why I think that maybe if you did that it would be the best way to hold you over til you go K. Mainly because the things on that car consist of parts that you can keep for the long run. Or maybe I am confused? I dunno, homework and finals is owning me right now.

So option 4 then right? Go ahead and vote.
I've thought about that, but I really want to drive it again. I don't now why, I haven't driven it in 3 years, but I really want to drive it now. That and I love the Niagara meet.

Right the other options have ways to recoup the money, or to possibly make extra off of it, but I will have more work, and time involved. I have been having a great week, at work this week, my next 2 week net paycheck should be about 2k or so. I need to keep working hard, I think that might be the key.

I build them for me. If I was worried about what people think about my car, I wouldn't even think about putting a stock B16 back in my CRX. It's not my style. Some people use have stock b16's and like them. I'm not one of those people. 2 years ago I bought a hatch, swapped the motor SOHC VTEC Z6, painted it(spray bomb), and drove it to Niagara all in one week. It was the ugliest car there, but I didn't care. I was just happy to make the meet.

I got a ride to Niagara, I'm gonna order my K mounts and axles tomorrow, so there will be no turning back, unless somebody can convince me otherwise about option 4! Besides, I still have to build my cage for my Samurai. I got 100ft, of 1.5" DOM to bend and weld up. I guess I have plenty to keep me busy for awhile. I can always go fourwheeling to pass the time away untill the K funds are gathered. Toad knows what I mean.

My job is way easier money, and quite abit less repulsive. I'm a salsesman, a hard days work is 5hrs. I'm gonna start working 6-7days a week I think. Start raking in the dough. I only work about 4-5 right now.
