Anyone wear the A* Bionic Protector Jacket?
I got one today and am still deciding about it. I am sitting here with it on right now and I can wear my leather (non motorcycle) jacket over it, which is how I'm going to ride with it. I got it in a medium, and it's a bit snug, but I think it'll be alright.
Anyone else use one of these?

I hope you're wearing pants too.
The jacket looks like it's a great idea for Supermoto/MX riders, but I don't know if I'd wear it under my leathers. I already have enough trouble squeezing into them as is.

Actually I dont have any A* pants yet, I'm looking though. I had a pair of A* Twin Leather Pants, but I got rid of them. I did not feel comfortable about the styling. Normally I use an Aerostich Roadcrafter suit when I am in full gear.
My leather jacket is really loose, it's not a specialized motorcycle jacket.

I had meant I hope you were wearing pants while sitting there typing to us.

How do you like the 'stich? I was going to buy one, but it's a bit cost-prohibitive for me.

Interesting this post came up as I was just going to make a similar thread about wearing armor under a jacket that doesn't have any. I've been thinking about a "motorcycle jacket" that's leather but has no armor. It's designed for double duty in that they expect people to wear it on cruisers and the like but it's also very not Power Ranger so it looks good for walking around in. Anyone wear a back protector under an unarmored jacket? If so, what armor/protector?

I used to wear that back protector that's integrated into the "jacket" pictured. It's since been sold to hybridcrx. I used to wear it all the time instead of the foam crap JR uses as a back protector. It's real bulky, though. I now use a Bohn Pro Race back protector which is a lot flatter and fits better.
I was thinking about 1upping it and getting a Dainese Safety Summer Jacket. It's basically a back protector with additional chest, shoulder and elbow protection held in place by mesh. I figure if I'm spending the cash on something to replace armor I don't have I might as well protect all the impact areas.

$250 for what's basically hard underwear is a bit tough to swallow though.

$250 IS pretty expensive, but you're protecting against impact damage on your sensiti...errr...more vulnerable areas.
I'd like to hear about the mobility of these things, though. My suit is pretty tight already, and it doesn't seem like there would be enough room for the extra armor.

Yous use it instead of the suit's armor not with.

I know you won't take my advice as something to go by. Given my reputation for busted, and somewhat not-bright operations I won't take offense, either
I'm not running armor in my Vanson. It's a world more comfortable than the Joe Rocket Blaster I had that ran CE pads. Vanson makes a slightly downgraded version of CE armer for street use that I'm thinking about... but I'm in no hurry. What jacket are you looking at that doesn't even have armor pockets?
I wouldn't buy one of those fancy wifebeaters. They're going to alter the fit of the jacket so much that you could really only wear the two together without a lot of slack. And then what have you got? A jacket designed to look somewhat casual that you can't wear into the movie theatre because you've got that stupid underwear on on.
My money is on a good jacket with soft armor in it. Black.

Kind of looks like ross... pretty damn gay

I saw this jacket at Coleman - I really like the look, but no armor... interesting idea, but I dont think i'd go with the full Voltron armor underneath though - I just wouldnt wear it. It looks much better in person.

Sorry, me no speak Engrish.
I meant the added chest protector. That's the only piece of armor my suit didn't come with.

I also think that they need to come up with a more casual line of armor. I always get told I look like a spaceman when I wear my Aerostich suit, and I don't feel comfortable wearing it anywhere but at fuel stops.

The jacket I'm considering it a lot like the one Ryan posted. I'm inclined to agree that I wouldn't wear the armor as much as I think because it's bulky and I might as well just be wearing a jacket with armor. Maybe I just run a simple back protector to cover the most important pieces and leave my elbows and shoulders to chance.
This isn't the exact one but similar.

I'm also sad to admit that I really like this one.

I like it because it looks good off the bike. It looks like... just another leather jacket, instead of the red w/ reflective striping and logos power ranger edition jackets (like my mesh).
I *think* the JR jacket I posted has optional armor to put in it, but maybe it would make it less comfortable? Or, you could throw in a CE back protector and be done with it, if its just for commuting, and put in the rest of the amor for the weekend backroad battlestages.

i also bought the a* back protector pictured. it's the A* race tech back protector. I mainly bought it b/c i wanted something sturdy inside my teknic leather jacket since it didn't have any back protection. I also found it to be a bit bulky, but it does feel solid. The only problem i had with it is that it doesn't really button in on the top and there are no straps for the top part of the protector. Instead i slide it inside the mesh pocket of the jacket and strap the bottom portion around my waist. When turning your head to look for traffic it also slightly interferes with the helmet and i can't turn as much as i'd like to and i usually need to extend my neck further or turn my shoulders (which i don't really like doing).
i was considering the jacket, but i think i'd only get it if i had a lot of room in a street jacket that didn't have much armor. my current jacket is pretty snug so i don't think i'll be buying that at all. I also think i'll just be using that a* back protector when i get a 1pc for the track and buy a small dual density padding for my current jacket...or just get a new jacket and sell the one i have for cheap.

Agreed. I'm sort of a gambling junky... as much as one can be and still be responisble about it.
My 1st wedding anniversary was in Vegas and we're going back for our 3rd anniversary this year. Our 2nd anniversary was in Montreal where, you guessed it, there's gambling too!
