Default HELP! Are my compression Numbers Good?

I was just wondering what kind of numbers I should be running for my set up. I have an LS-Vtec set up with high compression pistons (12:1 compression). I am using the stock LS three layer head gasket with the milled type R head of .01 mm. I checked my compression and it is about 210 across all four cylinders. Does that sound about right? Any suggestions would help. Thanks!

LSVTEC with 0.25 OS P30's here, and...

280-285psi across all cylinders.

Don't worry too much about static compression test numbers. It is a good idea to check compression numbers every now and again to ensure all cylinders read evenly. The more duration a set of cams have, will most likely result in lower static compression. The compression gauge is a good tool to check the health of the bottom-end or more basically to see if the rings are sealing properly. Huge static compression numbers will have very little effect on what kind of power you're engine will make. Check out the power other honda-tech members are making with very simple 1.8L engines. I'll post the link below.

Here you go. Some of these 1.8's are very impressive https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1263436

Also please tell us what pistons and cams you are using. Also are you using an expensive accurate compression tester or some cheapy dime store tester.

From what the guy I bought the motor from, he told me I have CP 81.5mm 12:1 compression pistons, with some kind of stage 3 cams, he's not sure what kind though. The compression tester is a 30 dollar screw in one I bought from bumper to bumper.

The actual number you shouldn't worry about.

It is the variance between the numbers that is the concern. You should be within <5% of every cylinder.

Just swapping cams can change static compression as much as 40psi. Not to mention different gauges and testers read differently. I've seen a 150psi difference just by switching brands.
