Default 4th Gen SUnroof Removal?

i read the Chiltons and other manuals for my 1996 prelude but i cannot figure out how to remove the sunroof. i want to take it apart to sand, paint nad put new rubber around the panel.

Can anyone help me with my search? i have looked at most of the search topics and General information about this topic but i cannot find any information.

thank you for reading my plea.

you have to take off the roofliner, and from there, you'll need to unbolt the frame of the sunroof and let it drop down. it's a bitch.

i may be wrong but i was under the impression once you get the small roofliner piece on the moonroof itself (mine fell off a while ago), you just take 4 bolts out and its done...?

i need to know also since im painting my car and i have to get the moonroof out as well.

my 94 had two screws up front that held the liner in place, 3 screws in the back with two nuts/bolts on the outer side. remove the metal piece from the back. slide out liner. remove 4 nuts each side of sunroof, pick up and carry off.

fairly simple to do.
good luck

damn you guys are doing it the hard way
pull the rubber/velvet molding from the roof opening from the inside
slide the sunroof back till the screws line up with the notches on the metal frame
unscrew those 2 screws and pry the sunroof interior panel down
pull it out from the opening in the rear
then unbolt the 4 corners of the panel

Where'd you get 56 from?, I only came up with 43 lbs including the interior peices.

i tried to simply take off the sun roof with out takign off the roof panel but it didnt really work. i mean ill try taking off the rubber that wraps around the sunroof panel and see how it works. the body shop guy i talked to said i will most likely have to remove the roof panel.
where do i get new rubber to wrap around the panel? i have rust becasue i do not have an affective drain , the water simply sits on the corners of the panel.
