Default EM1 + GSR Swap

Long storyshort my buddy hosed his b16a motor, and he wants to put in a gsr motor as a replacement, he plans to use his si tranny, si ecu, si wiring harness, si axles and use the si intake manifold so that he doesnt have to deal with the dual butterfly intake manifold.

Will that work? Also its been about 2 years since ive done a swap so im a bit rusty.....
He obviously has all of his si mounts and hes going to have some gsr mounts...

1) what mounts should he use?

From doing some searching, ive seen suggestions for using the teg driver side mount, the teg rear mount bracket and using the civic si rear mount

Is this right?
Ive searched through a bunch of threads but didnt see any real clear cut awnsers to my questions.

Thanks in advance for your help

If hes using the gsr head as well, that si intake manifold WILL NOT bolt up to it. Unfortunately the GSR was made as a unique shape and will only fit with the GSR intake manifold. If you want to fit the SI intake manifold you'll have to put a b16 head on the gsr block.

I currently run a GSR motor with a GSR intake manifold off of a JDM chipped B16 ecu. What I did about the butterflys, all you have to do is remove the vaccum hose from the donut and those bastards will stay open 24/7. Problem solved.

Thanks for that info, will it work if he uses his stock si ecu though? If not then it sounds like he needs to pony up the money for the gsr ecu if not, and use the gsr harness.

it will work but wont run good, it will run really lean because the SI is a 1.6 and GSR is 1.8 so the ecu wont be giving it enough fuel...and that could cause more problems then just running lean

I will let him know, okay last but not least....

Was I correct about the motor mounts?

teg driver side mount
teg rear mount bracket
civic si rear mount
civic si tranny mount

Pretty much. It doesn't get any more bolt in and go than that. If I were you, I'd try and use the Si head(unless it's fucked)

alright guys i need some help, i figured id ask here first and then maybe crosspost.. I know alot of you probably know these awnsers.....

1. Will a gsr ecu plug into a factory 2000 civic si engine wiring harness, (are the plugs the same or not) If you have an integra ecu that will fit this let me know.

If not, if you have a chipped p28 with an obd2 conversion harness, also im me i might be intrested.

2. On the stock 2000 si b16a motor, there is a crank position/angle sensor. On the jdm gsr motor we are swapping there isnt one. We planned to use the stock b16a ecu if possible, but since its looking for this im sure were going to get a cel, and the motor is probably going to run shitty.

3. On the jdm gsr intake manifold on runner number 4 there is a sensor (it has 2 wires going in it kind of looks like a map sensor, when comparing the b16a motor there is definatly not one of these, its definatley not the tps, map, or the iacv,

Last but not least, it seems as if there is a sensor of some sort on the power steering rack..... Is that something that should be plugged into a body harness or does that actually run off the ecu somehow? Ive never seen that before.

Thanks for you help, any info you could provide would be good, we have the motor in the car, everything is mounted up, but we are having some wiring issues.

if you are going to swap in a gsr, get a skunk, blox, or aebs intake manifold. as for the mounts, use every one that came off the si motor. the ecu wil fit only if it came out of a 99-01 gsr. if you are going to keep everything obd-2 then you are going to have to put the crank sensor from the si motor over to the gsr motor. and on the si, the intake air temp sensor is on the intake arm and on the gsr its on the runner of the intake manifold. just leave it unpluged and use the one on the intake arm
