Default Suzuki sv650, to buy or not to buy. opinions?

well I'm looking for a sporty yet cheap-ish bike just for riding around in the summers to and from work and around town. this is the cheapest and best looking for the price that I could find new that is. I don't really want a used bike but if I could find one for the right price I would get one.

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems or knows if there are any problems with these I've read reviews and they are all pretty good but just looking for people with first hand expierence.

I have ridden a few bikes cruisers bullet bikes ect but this will be my first time owning one.

They are good looking bikes but I like the naked bike look better. I'll look more into that ninja though. thanks for the reply.

I also like the way the SV's look. I would've bought one, except I got a good deal on my F4i.

If you're in Utah, check out utahsba.com Lot of good rider courses and info.

The 650R seems like a winner to me, I prefer the naked style though but id go old school with a Zephyr or a newer ZR-7...

Thanks man. I've already taken one beginner course and I'll probably go take the advanced one as soon as I have the time.

yeah I read that. I personally love the look of naked bikes so that kind of puts the sv650 at the top of my list for now.

You should go sit on both. The 650r feels a bit different from the sv. The Kawasaki feels narrow b/w your legs, which makes it seem a bit top heavy, if that makes any sense.

Not dead set I just havent been able to find any used bikes that caught my eye locally and I'm kind of nervous about not knowing the history of it.

Do you want a standard bike or sportbike? There's a huge difference in riding position of the SV and most of the bikes people have on here. Have you sat on it yet?

P.S. - Consider a well looked over used bike, deprecaition sucks.

at first I wanted a sport bike but for my first bike I'm not sure that is a good idea. I have read a lot of reviews saying the SV is a good starter bike because its a little easier to control and more forgiving, I'm not looking for something to drag race or anything extreme basically just to ride in the summer to and from work and to cruise around on and get good gas mileage. I have not sat on one because I cannot find a dealer that has one in stock. they have the sv650s I sat on that I'm not sure if the position is the same or not but I think they are ugly. depreciation does suck if I can find one locally for sale I will definetely check it out i like the look of the 02's and 03's a little better anyway
