Dead end wire.... Where should it go?
I was taking a look under my hood the other day and noticed a wire just sitting there. Not connected to anything no connecter on the end of it. It looks as though it was yanked out of somewhere or never wired to where it was supossed to go. I just bought the car a couple of months back and the engine had been recently replace before i bought it.
The wire is purple and coming from the ignition coil (Dash Fuse box side). I checked the Haynes maunual ignition system wirring diagram and it shows a wire that doesn't connect to anything it's labeled Tachometer Test connector C265 but it's labeled as being blue. I don't know what that is or what it does but I doubt it should be just wire with a bare end floating around inside my engine compartment.
The car seems to run fine other wise, I mean my gas millage could be better and on hot days my engine temp climbs a little but thats another story. I was just wondering if anyone knows what this wire was for... Or if i should ground it, Tape it up, leave it alone....

The tach wire would be used for connecting an external tachometer. But it's got a connector, not just a bare wire end. And it's blue...
If the replacement engine was from a different year, I'd look for differences between the wiring for those 2 years.

Good call I should have thought of that, but how do I find out what year the engine is? Whould it have to be limited to the 5th gen years and if so aren't they the same? I have the C27A4 - 2.7 SOHC V6 Engine.

I've heard this, & nobody has really said otherwise (yet)...
The first digit of the engine block serial # indicates the year. For example if the engine # is C27A4 - 24345654 then the first digit 2 means it's the 2nd year that the C27A4 was available. (You need to know when it was first available...)
OBD-1 vs. OBD-2 there were lots of differences in wiring. Doesn't 5th-gen cover both types?
