Default Torn between 2 VIPER ALARMS............HELP me choose one!

Car: Acura RSX-S

(2) alarms are :

1. Viper 5000
2. Viper 791xv

Im not using remote start so that doesnt matter to me. I plan to get a Backup Module 520T for either alarm. I also already have a new audio sensor 506t which my friend gave me for free.

The 5000 has 2 sensor ports while the 791xv only has one. The 5000 needs a hoodpin switch while the 791 already has one. Im having a hard time deciding.

-Whats better, an internal or external shock sensor?

-What sensors should I add??

I was looking at this website which I think is made by suspendedhatch.

I would go with the 791xv cause of all the aux outpus which give you more options if you get creative. I think the 791xv is the best alarm on the market, but that is my personal opinion.

Hoodpins switches are really cheap so that shouldn't be much of an issue here. You'll probably want an extra one for your trunk anyways.

I'm no alarm expert so I can't comment if internal or external shock sensors are better.

As far as adding sensors, I think the general consensus is that the AU94T radar proximity sensor (as mentioned on suspended's website) is probably the best one. I plan on getting one for my upcoming alarm install.

Don't mean to confuse you any more, but you may want to throw the Compustar 2WSS alarm into your decision. I had been planning on ordering a Viper 5000 for a while but changed my mind to the 2WSS. With FM spread spectrum communication, the range is supposed to be unbeatable. It's advertised as 6,000ft (1.25 miles), but I've read of people getting a least a few thousand feet from it in close to ideal circumstances. I believe the Viper alarms are only advertised at 1/4 mile.

Definitely go with the 791 if you can swing it... Extra outputs are really nice for controlling lights and other accessories from the remote. Simple relays are required to make them work though...

viper 5000

i have one, not installed yet.. still waiting on the spools of wiring, door lock actuators, relays, etc..

but getting ready to install it... with other wires, for amps, and speakers...

if you don't need the remote start, just get the 5000

the sensor ports are not a problem, you can easily wire up more than one sensor to a port...

Things you should add: tilt/motion sensor, mini peizo sirens, and the crimeguard(crutchfeild) proximity sensor....

i'll post my alarm install up, when i get to it.. though i won't post everything.. cause i am doing a "custom" creative install...

since this is a double post check your other one. and a 5000 has just as many outputs as a 791.
