First Autocross; at PIR!!!
So, I'm going to my first autocross this weekend at PIR, hopefully. I took out all the loose stuff in the car, including floormats...do I need to take the stuff out of my tire well, like the spare, small toolset, spare fluids? Anything else I should consider? I'm going to (over) inflate the tires and get something to mark the edges for rollover...checked my fluids...anu help would be great...anyone going to be there?
Awesome! Your gonna have a great time. When you go out for your first run, you will be hooked. It's so addicting.
Like you said, make sure you remove any loose items from the glove compartment, trunk, etc.
If the spare tire and jack is secure, you should be ok. Most people dump everything from their car in the paddock area at the event.
Check other things like:
Secure battery
return spring on the throttle body
secure wheels
no leaking fluids
and some other stuff that I can't think of right now.
You also might want to thing about bringing a lunch. Most places that I have been to don't have any vendors present, so food might be tough to get. A foldable chair and some reading material is also good to have while you are watching other cars run. A small tool box wouldn't hurt either.
I am sure some other people here could contribute some information as well. This is all I could think of right now.
hope you have fun.
good luck,
drive safe,

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't have thought about the throttle return spring, but I just put my TB back on last weekend after I bored it out and polished it, so I know it's working well. I just got back from the gas station and inflated my tires to about 40psi, after I'd driven a couple miles, is that good? I think they're supposed to be about 28psi cold...they're 14" honda alloys with 60series tires if that helps.
Also, I've got a homemade heatshield for my intake under the hood ad it's bolted on in three places, and kept together on a drive from Florida to Oregon, heh, should it be a problem?

Enjoy your first hit from the go fast crack pipe and let us know how things go.
Coolness...it shouldn't fall off
So, anyone know what kind of tire pressure I should be running? Should I chalk the sides to see if I need to raise it?

You really don't need to chalk the sides...if you are able to see the scuffing on the tires and how close it gets to the wear triangles then that is all you need. Get the scuffing as close to the tip of the triangle as possible without going over and you're at good pressure levels.

Crack pipe it is! Damn,...that's about all I can say...well...I got a ride in this guy's 96 M3...****** crazy man. It's his wife's car and he brought it because it was wet out and his '65 Corvette apparently struggles for traction when it's dry...600hp...
So, I started off running 58 seconds(with 6 penalties!) to 58 with none...then after a couple more went down to 53! The M3 ran a 45 or so on it's first
BUT, I've got a civic i/e and stock suspension! Just thought I'd share and tell anyone that it's SOOOO worth it!

Also...I think I'm givin' up on my turbo project for now and working on the suspension...what should I do first? I was thinking I REALLY need a bigger front and A rear swaybar...of course springs and 'dampers' What's a good price for some suspension techniques bars? (Excited...)

Consider an Evolution autox school at some point. --buji
I actually drive quite a bit...true, a driving school might be worth it, but I think I need a little something tangible at this point
