Default ECU Question

Hey. I have a OBD2 GSR motor in my 92 Dx bubble. It threw a few codes with my P28 installed so I borrowed my friend's chipped P28 and the CEL was gone. When I went to buy a chipped ECU the guy told me that it wont be smart to do. He said I should clear the codes first, then get a chipped P28. He said just cause the chipped ECU makes the CEL go away doesnt mean the problems wont still be there. Does he know what hes talkin about? Any feedback?

which codes were you throwing with the P28?

OBD1 has basic codes, there are a few that you can simply ignore, but others you really need to pay attention to.
