Default Is it worth it to swap my cams(crower 2's) out for stage 3's?

Ok ive had my crower stage 2 cams in for about 4k miles now. I am running on 11:1 compression with prospeed header and all the other reg bolt ons. I was wondering if i will pick up some decent power by throwing in some crower stage 3's. I bought the stage 2's before I went with the 11:1 compression. Now i think the stage 3s would be happy with my compression ratio. I always see dynos of the stage 3's making power all the way to 8k wich would also be nice.

I doubt you'd see too much for gains

They have similar lift to the stage 2's but have 7-8 degrees of more duration at .05" of lift (or whatever that measurement is) which is why they are able to rev higher & make power higher. The stage 3's will buy you a few more horses throughout most of the powerband along with extending it a little higher in the RPM's.

Crower told me that they were designed around a head flowing 350 cfm on the intake side.

Would definately help if you had a good port job, but prolly wouldnt notice anything on a stock head.

Hmm im thinking about maybe building another h22 for my eg. Maybe ill just get the set. Get a p&p w/ mill and type s pistons. Get me around 12:1 and the cams will be happy. So a no on my current motor correct.

yea. My buddy alex went from stage 2's to stage 3's on a stock jdm block and only got a gain of a few hp on the dyno. I'll see if i can find his dyno graphs.

Go for it. I know where you can get them with some skunk2 cam gears for a fair price.

I bet that you will get a little more up top and depending on what you have done to your engine it may be worth it. But I would go at least 11.5:1CR and a good valvejob and throttlebody that will support the extra flow necessary at 7500+ rpm. I remember a while back your dynos of the OBX cams. Good power, too bad they ate your rockers.

ok well i couldnt find the dyno, but he did run a 13.4 on slicks. And thats in a 5th gen, full interior, Blacktrax head, crower 3's, 100 octane, no accessories (PS, CC, AC).

from what i remember talking to him, he said he was getting beat on the top end with the stage 2's, then he switched to the 3's and it was a little better.

it was alex with the silver 5th gen from blacktrax.

Are you guys talking about me? I orignally didn't want to ***** the thread & mention that I was selling some stage 3 Crower's but I guess I will now. The skunk2 cam gears are sold but I still have the Crower 3's. Info is linked in the sig.
