Default JDM B20B compression ratio?

I've done a search and found that people say all sorts of things.

I'm eyeing 2 B20B's, both claim to be straight from Japan. The code is B20B, one has a tall IM, one has a short IM but its not an LS IM. The tall IM one is a 97, and the other is a 96. I'm wondering which one of these have the 9.6:1 CR. TIA

Tough call, too bad you don't know which car they came from. One guy said that every one he's taken the head off had the higher comp. pistons. Another guy said that his Orthia b20b had the same pistons too despise what the jap honda site claimes...

JDM CRV w/b20b

1996:

cr - 9.6:1
ps - 130@5500
kgm - 19.0@4200

1997:

(2wd?)
cr - 8.8:1
ps - 130@5500
kgm - 18.8@4200

(4wd?)
cr - 9.2:1
ps - 145@6200
kgm - 18.2@5200

1998:

cr - 9.6:1
ps - 150@6300
kgm - 18.8@4500

JDM S-MX w/b20b

1996:

cr - 8.8:1
ps - 130@5500
kgm - 18.7@4200

1999:

cr - 9.6:1
ps - 140@5500
kgm - 19.0@4200

2000:

cr - 9.6:1
ps - 140@5500
kgm - 19.0@4200

JDM Orthia w/b20b

1996:

(2.0GX, 2.0GX-S)
cr - 9.2:1
ps - 145@6200
kgm - 18.2@5200

1998:

2.0GX, 2.0GX-S)
cr - 9.2:1
ps - 145@6200
kgm - 18.2@5200

Nobody seems to know forsure, but everything experienced people say contradicts these numbers.

dude, honestly,

if you dont know which car it came from - you aint gunna find out what block you got...

this whole B20(?) stuff is a bit of a wild goose chase to me.

from my research, it appears that unless you *know* which car it came from and what month/year it was you aint got anything untill you oull the head off...

even then i couldnt tell you which pistons it should have...

maybe someone else could help you answer this one.

not true!

Anyway we ended up picking up a '99 JDM B20B with a stock LS IM. Hopefully its 9.6, if not, I'm sure it'll move anyway!

well, i made the second post. But its still stands that every post i've ever read from a jdm b20b engine owner who has checked has said its got the 9.6:1 pistons. On this site and another. One guy even claimed that he's had the heads off dozens of them, and they're all the same. Thats all i know.
