Ok...I have a question. I have a 1989 Honda Civic Dx Hatchback. I have front speakers installed, but no rear speakers. I just installled a new radio, and I noticed there is factory wiring there for rear speakers. I know the car does not actually have the speakers, but since there is wiring there for the rear speakers, I am assuming the speaker wires are laying somewhere in the car for the rear. Can someone please tell me where they are located? Are they behind the panels in the back seat, or are they located in the back in the hatchback area? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have a 91 civic si hatch that i recently put rear speakers in. they attach to the panels on the rear where the hatch cover sits on. i will post some pics for you later today i also have complete directions i will give you a write up.

 

i think he knows where to put em.. he just needs to know where the wires are located

 

The rear speaker wires on mine were back at the tail light harness on each side. Pull the access covers off and look there.

I have stock pods for sale for rear speakers. A rare item no one wants to buy cause they have been on sale for a long time.

ok this last one shows the panel that the speaker wires are hidden behind its a blue and red wire. finally!

 

Ok now that we got the pix up i can tell you all how to do this.

you have to find the plastic mounts to start with i found mine on Ebay.

so the first thing you do is remove both of the shelves that hold the hatch cover up. you do this by removing the three bolts on the underside of the shelves. then you will have to cut out the bottom of the tray to get the speaker to fit. and if you want to have the wires completly hidden you have to drill a hole in the side of your panel somewhere behind the shelf so you cant see it when you put the shelf back on. then you will feed the wire through that hole and run it along the sideof the tray between the tray and the side panel. then drill a hole in the side of the tray to run the wires through once you have all of your holes drilled you can run your wire to the speakers. the speakers are attached with some screws obviously.

if you need more info let me know ill take a look its been a while since i have done this so just hit me up if you have more questions. i would strongly suggest getting some of these they make the sound so much better and its a much more enjoyable experience in the back seat

 

doods! Dont waste your time with rear speakers. run some real good ones up front and pair em up with a good amp and a 10" or 12" sub in the back.

It will sound much better, nice natural sound without any overpowering highs.

Don't waste your money guys unless you like crappy sound

 

well ive got a 12 that sounds nice i have good front speakers and good rears and i think it sounds great so do most other people that ride in my car so yeah. rear speakers

 

its like what nwf_snake said the rear speaker wires are in the tailight harness and you'll have to open the acess panels but they might be tucked away in there... but the cool thing is is that honda put blue tape wround them so they are a little more easy to find

Well, to each his own, if yours sounds good, more power to you

The only thing i don't like about the rear speakers is that they are exposed the way they are, giving some punk an easy excuse to break out a window.

thieves are a big reason why i left mine without speakers, i didnt install my amp or sub until i got a hold of a cargo cover.

I just added two 6x9 speakers in wal-mart boxes in the rear and it sounds really good! (suprisingly)

 

Rear panel that access light bulbs for tails.
there is a Harness that is going unused. Its a two wire connector.
Just cut off the connector and use the speaker wires.

 

Ill take those Rear Pods! If they fit the slightly larger 6.5" magnet

 

DrSquish, I just put 6 3/4" MB quart PCE-216s in the rear speaker pods, but I had to cut plenty of plastic. Also the stock speaker grills don't fit over the speakers. The do fit on top with only a tiny rim of the speaker sticking out so once I figure out a good way to attach them I'll do that so they look stock at a glance. I'd prefer not to attract attention to them.

I must 4 of those PCE-216s sounds very nice to my ears. The tweets on those things are insane so you need to use the adjustments on the x-overs to drop them down or an EQ/treble control. But once they are tamed they sounds great.

True , i've got JL Mid's in the doors with 200W per door , paired up with one 10W0 JL sub in the rear. Sounds awsome. Putting power to some good *** speakers and a real good head unit will pay off.
