Default dohc zc,,,,now overheating

well i droped in a jdm dohc zc. bought it from a local shop for 400 bucks. good deal i think. so my car overheats now, took out the thermostat and it still heats up, what could be the damn problem?? and like i would think there would be a leak, but there isnt, the water just goes into the reserve and stays in there. like the radiator is pushing it in there. i need some help guys, i cant go 10 miles without pulling over to top off my radiator.

Is the coolant getting everywhere? With the fluid just being pushed back into the reserve tank makes it sounds like there's a clog somewhere.

did you burp the cooling system? to me that sounds like your problem. if you didn't burp the system sometime the temp gauge will read really hot then go back down again. it will also cause you to need to constantly top off your radiator.

heres what you do. with the car cold(or with a rag if the car is hot) take off the rad cap. once its off top it off with water. then start the engine and let it idle for a while(this can take a while). let the engine get up to normal operating temperatures. it needs to get hot enough for the thermostat to open. periodically the water level will lower and you should top it off again. keep doing this untill the water level doesn't go down anymore. there ya go! no more overheating

so i let the car run without the radiator cap on??? how come my water keeps getting pushed into the reserve?

i actually took the thermostat off to see if it was a unfunctional thermostat, but its still overheated. im stunned on this one.

when an air bubble goes through the system it and the pressure gets too high, it will vent to the overflow tank. often it will bring a little water in with it.

yes run the engine with the radiator cap off. let it get good and warm.

take off the cap and fill up the rad and then start the car if water starts to rise and then gushes out probally a bad headgasket if not do what the others said
