Definitely sounds like an enhanced area. As far as the seller being responsible, this is technically the case. However, it is possible for the seller to make a disclaminer in the bill of sale. This is common in situations where someone is basically just trying to get rid of a car.

As for lowering NOx, you COULD try mixing about half a gallon to one gallon of denatured alcohol with a tankful of gasoline. Alcohol is VERY good at lowering NOx. But before you do this, check the cat. It could be clogged.

i will post up the smog sheet later today...

as far as seller smogging the car it was a agreement i would do it because i traded a lil pieced together turbo kit for the car... its a lil project car, but it is a clean title CA 88 crx SI... so i couldnt complete, it had aem intake aem cam gear aem fuel rail, dc headers, dc strut bar.... dats basically it.. but took parts off for smog reasons

A new O2 sensor should help. I put in a new O2 sensor with high Nox, and it dropped in half. The old sensor was making it run lean. What are the other #'s?

how much mileage is on this monster? try using sea foam to decarbonize the motor. just a suggestion. an o2 probably wont fix the situation, but if it floats your boat go for it. check your timing and make sure your fuel pressure is good.

High NOx indicates a lean or high heat condition. check to see if your ecu is throwing the code for a fuxord TPS, this code wont trip the CEL. also hurry up n post the sheet :-P

ok i just did another search and found this

Code 14 - Electronic Air Control Valve
Lets extra air into the intake manifold, to help control the idle under different loads.

Check the O-rings, for mountng condition.
Clean the inside of the Valve after removing, using any kind of solvent that will remove carbon build up. By spraying it inside the two holes ect...

Place the flat end of a screw driver on the EACV while the engine is running. Place the handle against your ear and listen. Should hear something in there jumping back and fourth at a rapid rate.

EACV Sensor Wires:

1 Blue/Black
1 Yellow/Black

Back

well i changed my iac valve 2 days before i took it to get smogged... but i didnt re set my bat. do u think that could of caused it?

AFAIK your 88 SI does not have an EACV. AFAIK the only ones that had the EACV were the HF's. Can you take a pic of your motor?

all the CRX's AFAIK had a IAC, but not an EACV.

if you want to lower NOX, pull timing 1 or 2 degrees and/or use higher octane fuel. That should be enough since you just barely didnt pass.

is it 14 short blinks? double check, you dont have an EACV the car cannot be throwing the EACV code.
