id say you dont need about half of the stuff in that rebuild thread. and dont be scared to do it (like i was). it only takes me about 45 min to rebuild a tranny now if its out and i have the parts.

depends, what all is wrong with yours? the first one i did i thought was totally shot(grinding, not going into gear, popping out of gear etc) and it was just one bearing that was bad so i got seals and the bearing for $45. its hard to tell until you take it apart.

honestly, usually when rebuilding a tranny the syncros arent the worst part. The syncro sleeves show the most wear and usually need to be replaced. Thats what happened on my S1. The sleeves are sold in a kit that comes with oem syncros. Id just take it apart and see whats worn and go from there so you dont spend money on parts you might end up getting in a kit

synchros was what we thought too but like i said it was only a bearing the synchros were great and the tranny shifts smooth as butter now.

post pics of what you find.
