Default So I turn to my real friends for advice..

I currently have a crx, 88 crx HF to be exact, and my problem is the following:

Im going to start hitting the strips, just for the experience, and at the same time i want to daily drive this girl.

Option 1, Should i go b16 with b16 tranny, pr3 ecu, obd 1 dizzy, and headers, or

option 2. Should i go LS, Get some good spark plug wires, LS Tranny, obd1 dizzy, stage 3 clutch..etc..

Basically what i am looking for is a daily beast, but i am on a budget. I'd figured i;d go LS, since its cheaper, and parts are everywhere, but at the same time i want the extra boost the b16 gives you.

I dont know my friends, i am confused. Give some ideas...The FLAME SUIT is on.

Also, if you have had a b16 iin your car, and then went to LS, or vise versa...what were the con's and pros.

Im not a noob to this ordeal, you know, im just looking for a second opinion..

I've got an 88 CRX HF myself, a LS/Vtec. Get the LS and add the Vtec later. Or better yet, find a LS/Vtec now and add the other stuff later. If you can do the clutch now that will save you time later.

If you are going to stick to your options and not get a Vtec later for the LS I would go for the b16.

Must...have...Vtec

Couldnt disagree more.

I'd get a B16 with an LS tranny.
Just buy the longblock B16 annd pick up a LS tranny, voila.

The J1, Y1, all the B16 trannys are way to short geared for daily driving.
Around town maybe but not the freeway, unless 5000RPM's @ 70MPH is your bag.

I'd go B16 and LS tranny, unless you get a LS 5th gear and install it in the B16 tranny

5K at 70? dayum i thought my s1 is bad at 4K at 80. i had ls, blew it up, went b16, and had to go ls again cuz i love that torque, wish i woulda kept the b16 head for the ls/vtec, sall good tho. i do miss burying the tach before i shift in the b16 tho, other than that i prefer ls.

Yuh, i figured i should go LS.

My plans are to get an LS, get a stage 3 clutch, msd SP wires, headers, and an LS tranny. That way, if i want to, and i save up, i can go turbo easily.

What are the HP, TQ on this motors. And is there a difference between the A1 and B1?

Of course there is a difference in the Ho of the A1 and B1. But now you're getting into the you need to serach domain.

You need to think about what you want to do with the motor.

One minute your talking b16, the next you're talking turbo.

I mean a turbo ls can be a daily, but in order for you to recieve help, or to help yourself you need to think about what your ultimate goal is.

You don't want to get 1/2 way through a boosted LS and decide that you should have added vtec a long time ago or something.
