Default Race/ Street seat?...search function is still busted :(

Ok...I would have looked this up in the archive, but I can't.

So here goes

I need to eventually replace the two front seats with something that has the harness holes for the shoulder and sub belts. What is the best bang for the buck. I wnt it cheap....I could care less about JDM or any of that other stuff. I still need the recline function. I will only be doing HPDE and time trials with this car

I looked at the Sparcos $$$
What about the Tenzo's???

thanks

Steve, Tenzos focking suck. they feel like crap when you sit in them, the fabric licks *** also. you really get what you pay for with those things.

Recaro SRDs are nice, around 650 bux I think (asked some VW guy with them in his car)

Kirkey.
Little much for street, but you want a cheap, well constructed quality piece, that is the ticket.

I have 1 reclining OMP seat in my M3. I have no idea if it is any good. I never sit in the passenger's seat. No one has complained though, except about having to figure out the 5 point harnesses

If you are serious about time-trials, you really should consider a properly installed bucket seat. They are much safer than reclinables.

Can'y you use a harness with the stock seat? Just pull off the bottom cushion and cut through the foam. Have somebody sew a hole into the fabric cover. Much cheaper than buying all-new seats.

my bucket Sparco Evo is oddly more comfortable than the stock R seats...i must have spent 20 hours in it over a weekend, racing and highway, and i was absolutely fine, while my back usually bugs me after about 4-5 hours in a stock seat. Get a shell that fits you like a glove, and you'll never go back. I feel like i could do 24eme du mans in this thing nonstop

I can sit in my Corbeau Forza for a good 4-5 hours before it gets uncomfortable. I have no problem with the straight-up design, since I used to put the stock seat at the setting closest to vertical anyway. Maybe I'm just odd, but it feels plenty comfy to me.

Of course, if you want to run STS in autox, the SCCA, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that you <u>must</u> have a reclining seat...and none of the reclining seats I've seen have a cutout for the anti-sub strap. Even for STX, the best you can use is a tube frame racing seat, not the safer shell types.

I have this problem, and so far just use the stock seat with the crotch belt around the front. I was thinking about cutting through the seat as CM suggests, but the bottom of the Civic Si seat is almost entirely covered with sheet metal, so it's a bit more of a project. I was thinking I might try a two strap anti-sub setup that loops under the legs and hooks to the same places as the lap belt.
