Default 97 civic coupe with 98 gsr motor

Hey everyone I have some questions about my set up and what I should launch at. I went to NOPI today at MIR and I didn't do as good as I thought I would. I've had very little practice time at the track so im pretty much a beginner at racing.

My set up is : 1997 civic coupe ex, 98 jdm gsr motor with lsd trans, hasport motor mounts, aem intake, dc sports cat back exhaust, dc headers, b&m fuel pressure regulator, short shifter riding on new falken azenis rt615 with 20psi in front tires on si rims.

I asked around today to get some advice at what rpms I should launch at and if I should dump the clutch or feather it out. Well I tryed everyones answer I got. I launched at 4,000 rpm and dumped the clutch i ended up with a 2.3 60ft and a 15.7@90 mph.

I then got more advice and was told to launch at 5500 and feather it out. I then got a 16.1@88mph with a 2.6 60ft. I then launched at 6200 rpm and dumped it and i got a 16.4 and again a horrible 60 ft.

I did everything people told me and im still not satisfied. I was told i should be running low to mid 14's easily. My car is pretty heavy all though today i took my system and nitrous bottle out of my car. I'm going back tomorrow to get some more practice in but I'd like if I can get some advice from people who are experienced.

MIR is a pretty good track from what Ive heard, correct? That outta the question, With your 15.7@90 with a 2.3 60 ft, I would probably say with a 2.1-2.2 60 ft and that 90mph trap speed your anywhere between 15.3-15.6.

Yeah it's known for being a nice track. I think i was expecting too much for what my car could do. I just got the swap done so it felt like another world compared to the d16.

are you getting traction?

it should be rev and hold it(two steps come in handy), dump and climb in rpm from where ever you launched. if youre launching too high, you wont get traction, too low and youll drop in rpm. gotta find the in between.

I dont think traction was a problem. Those tires are great there very sticky. The first time I did a little burn out, out side of the wet box is when i got my 2.3 60ft. Before I was getting 2.4-2.6. So im guessing that helped me out some to get the tires to stick better.

Low 15's is what you should expect. high 14's with your mods. Like 14.9 and 14.8's might be possiable but not likly.

Whoever told you that you should be running low to mid 14's is probably someone with a hatch. You are basically driving a integra GSR. That is far from the power of a civic hatch with a GSR.

I ran the stock d16 like 4 times. It wasn't fun it was just slow. On motor with the stock d16 I got a 17.5 my clutch was horrible it would slip like every gear. I did however run a 15.6 with it on a 75 shot on nitrous. I think a low 15 is more reasonable then going into the 14's with my car. Next NOPI I plan to spray either a 75 shot or 100.

I dont know I was pulling 2.2 and 2.3 60 foots with just header and intake and i was pulling 14.7`s consently all night and it was over 100 degrees so I dont know why your car isnt running that high, my trap was also constant 94mph, although this is from a 94 coupe ex with a 96 gs-t motor in it, with a little launch work, my new exhaust and a few other things here and there I plan to run low 14`s next time I go to the track. Keep practicing mang youll get there.
