*SAN DIEGO* Barona - Import Fantasy (!50 pics!, A couple Maybe NWS?)
These are from today's Import Fantasy (.com) event at Barona 1/8th-Mile Drag Strip; Not very many people showed up to actually race, most people were there to either show or spectate. I took quite a few photos though...Here are a several low-resolution version 'quick-picks' from my archive...
Sorry, there's a lot. I don't usually do posts like this; If anyone knows a better way to post 50 pictures (without having to create thumbnails) LMK. Thanks.
Supposedly it was an "import-only" event; I asked the track manager about this car and he said, quote, "it's imported from Arizona."
The only shot I got of his car (
) before it went out of commission.
I'm thinking this guy was having engine problems because his runs were disappointing; Fast, but disappointing. I think I just had high expectations when they towed the thing to the staging area.
This is almost everyone that showed up to race.
Not exactly a perfect day for this famous one, but what a quick son of a bitch...
I had to back off the spot I was taking photos from whenever he ran because it was deafening even with my earplugs in.
Thanks to Mike (track manager) for allowing only me (and later dut guy you see here) to get so close to the action...

Didn't take many photos of the show cars.
I didn't realize that I was shooting at +1EV until I had taken like 500 photos... Many results similar to the following:
They had several up-and-coming San Diego oriented entertainers at the show. No complaints.
And of course there were girls.
I shot many photos of her because, well, she's hot. And also as far as I could tell she seemed to have a pleasant personality. I hate photographing bitches.

after a month of getting my car ready...... and it was ready too.
torn apart and rebuilt.
the guy that was supposed to lend me a trailer backed out the day of the event because he had to go camping. what a crock of ****.
looks like fun... i'll be at the next one for sure.

Hahah...but that's true at many auto-show events. But I thought the girl with the pink-ish skin and the big earings was pretty cute. Didn't get to talk to her. Dunno if she's a bitch or not.
I wasn't sure what passes for NWS here, so I just put NWS just to be safe. The REAL NWS pics are still on my HD.

Nice! Pics!
But as far as a photoshoot, you should leave that to the professionals like Dut or Ling or Rodrez; Car photography is hard for me..I'm still learning how to photograph people. Not to mention that, although I have Photoshop CS2, I know close to nothing beyond the very basic post-processing techniques...
This Barona thing is going to be an annual event, yeah? More people need to come! There were some long minutes in between runs because there simply weren't enough racers. 
But as far as a photoshoot, you should leave that to the professionals like Dut or Ling or Rodrez; Car photography is hard for me..I'm still learning how to photograph people.

i think they are going to work on this more than just annually....

Dut and Ling have a lot more knowledge in shooting cars, and apparently black cars are even more tricky when it comes to making it look real good. Plus I think they have some better lenses than me.
But I can shoot it sometime if you want just for the hell of it, but you should have extremely low expectations. LOL

i had alex edge shoot my car, but the lighting was really bad, and we only got a few good shots.... i plan on giving him a second chance because i know he has the talent.

that's possible. but honestly, i like racing 1/8th mile. comes down to some very close racing.

Don't you have a Nikon D50? With a lot of the pictures you post (i.e. that Ridgeline above or your VC pics) have EXIF showing a Nikon D50 signature. I've seen a lot of good photos taken with that camera.

I wouldn't say that's necessarily so... Our other 'race track' is Qualcomm Stadium; An 1/8-mile track in the parking lot, and hundreds of racers and hundreds upon hundreds of spectators show up for that, and they have those race days about twice a month.
It could be that the Barona drag strip is out in the middle of nowhere? ...not to mention the journey there isn't so appealing. It's a single-lane much of the way. I actually wasn't going to go...but I spent the night at my homegirl's house in Santee so I was practically right down the street...
The low turnout might also have been due to the fact that gates opened at 7AM (I'm assuming not a lot of San Diegans care much for waking up that early on a Saturday) and racing started at 9:30-10AM (so, with the commute you're still looking at getting up from bed at 7 or so to get there in time for registration.
...or maybe a lot of people just didn't know about it.

There were three bikes there...And the all ran about the same times, if I'm not mistaken. Quickest I saw was 6.79.
