just changed alt and now battery light is on

Default just changed alt and now battery light is on

so i changed out my alternator bc the voltage regulator was taking a crap on me...switched it out everythings fine...then i go and start the car and the battery light is on and im hearing a slight whining sound coming from the alt....voltage is right where it should be any ideas???

also the belt is on snugly


EDIT ALTERNATOR WAS SHOT

Is the battery still good? The old alt might have taken it out along with it.
