Default 6 speed gears in a 5 speed case...

ok, so I am in the market for a type S tranny. and I found a tranny for sale for around $250. Well the catch is, it is disassembled, and it is the 6 speed type S gears in a 5 speed base model case. is this possible? I wasnt too sure, thats why I am asking. I think its a heck of a deal, so I was just wondering if this will work.

are there any advantages, or disadvantages? other than cheaper, it seems like it is just a 6 speed tranny. I will pm bense and see what he says.

It'll work fine, it's just cheaper. The Honda Tuning article described changing just a few parts to make a 5-speed into a 6-speed. Putting all the regular 6-speed internals into a 5-spd case is no big deal.
