Grinding/Scraping Noise when Driving/Turning/ Low RPMs WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR!!
EDIT
Well I just jacked up the car today
******* good bit of grease on the drivers side on the lca/caliper etc around that area,
its coming fomr the outermost part of the boot closest to the tire where the little clamp is. I dont see any tears though
Now could this be causing my problem? No grease = grind? There isnt that much grease but theres a good handful
Now if this is the cause I can either:
1- snip the clamp and fill it back up with grease
2- grab a spare axle with a fucked boot and get it fixed and try that
3- this isnt my problem look elsewhere
I see no other problems other than my oil leak
Hope someone can help
I just got this car running after a year of downtime, in that time I did a motor build up (d16a6 forged) and a turbo install, brakes, suspesion etc
Well I started driving the car and it was mint for a 2 hour haul I took, then I noticed a small SOFT rubbing noise when driving, the noise would change witht he speed, it didnt sound like metal on metal contact so I didnt care figured the tires were rubbing but I knew they werent
Well today I went out and after a couple rippers I went down to low speeds and hear your this LOUD grinding, its only for the first few thousand rpm or so when its the worst.
No power steering, no a/c, car is an 88 crx si
You can hear it quite well when turning as well, cant tel if its form the turn or just because something wants to make noise.
Can someone help me narrow it down please?
Thanks
Kevin

So you only hear it when your turning? Axle would be my guess. If you hear it going straight as well check trans, if you hear it idle check motor/clutch.
Going straight and turning
axles worked fine last year, why would they make such a noise?

so if I spin the whells what I supposed to hear?
I know they dont spin noise free, theres a good bit of noise, i thought it was from the new pads/rotors
Does anyone think it could be a bad whel bearing?

Id say wheel bearing. lift the car up, jackstand or lift and run the car listen for the noise. then take the wheels off ( preffer lift) and run it and check out where the noise is

I was thinking wheel bearing, but it doesn't make since that it would stop after certain RPMs...
but maybe it's not all the way shot or something, I'd check the wheel bearing out first..
well wheel bearing(s)? Is it one side? or both sides? or have you not narrowed it down?
EDIT:
They don't spin noise free, is that in gear? do they spin noise free in neutral?

I havent narrowed it down to a side
I dunno what could be causing it though, its not a huge huge grind but you can hear it over my 3" downpipe and it feels almost like something is scraping againt the ground, sounds like it as well but nothing is, you cna feel it in the steering wheel
The rotors dont need to be turned, there brand ndew

I just went out for an early morning drive, the grinding is at its loudest at low speeds and light cornering, it really has no pattern when it makes the noise, anytime in any gear 1-3
Its grinds for no more than 1 second at a time, stops, grind, sometimes once, sometimes once sometime 4 times until you get up to speed, even at higher speeds I can hear a soft rubbing
I should mention that it only seems to do it with the car in gear, doesnt matter if its accelerating or decelerating
I also have a feeling in my shifter, a clucnking feeling when you push the shifter forward further than you need to and hold it there, you can feel a pulse in the shifter every second or two, just moves the shifter a little bit.
I dont know if something needs replaced or if something just wasnt installed right.... it seems to be ocming fomr the passenger side but its so hard to tell

if it is only when ur in gear.... i would take off my tranmission and check to see if u have any burn/damage on ur pressure plate and fly wheel..... and bout turning.. i would just look at ur axels... see if the joints are gressed or poped out.....
I didnt wanna drivwe the car for long so i dont know if its only when its in gear or not, I am leaking a bit of oil so I just did a quick run around the block
What would cause the noise though? Its not a constant grind, its just very audible at low speeds, sounds pretty harsh though, both turning and going straight
I just wanna know exactly whats causing it!

i should probably also mention that when I did the engine swap, one of my boots on the axles were torn so I threw in another Crx axle
it wasnt on the side that I think is making the noise, it was the long drivers side one
I dunno I need some help guys, Im broke and I have car troubles

are u throwing any cells??? were are u leakign oil at... may/or may not be the problem.... got ur work cut out for u lol.... see if ur throwing a cell first then repost
no cels
the oil is ocming form the t in the back of the block for my turbo feed and oil pressure gauge, the gauge fitting hose is leaking like crazy, Im removing it when i figure out what is causing this problem

, yeah, that's pretty much my next step..

What if its both in gear and neutral? straight and turning
New axles are $130 EACH, not really in the budget so I cant just buy them without knowing, catn have the car off the road for 2 days checking the trannies insides if that aint the problem
Need more info please guys

its not the axles! im starting to believe it is the wheel bearing, although i've never had a bad wheel bearing result in a very loud grind sound as the post described...maybe i just changed it before it got that bad

He is saying only in gear..CLUTCH OUT? If it is id suspect the throwout bearing.
t/o bearing has less than 300 miles on it, got a new one with the new clutch
it doesnt spin freely when I spin the tires, but it doesnt make a hard hard grind like when its rolling
It makes a fairly light rotor rubbing noise I would describe it as
