Default Auto to manual conversion

How much of a bear is this conversion? I have a buddy with a 90 or 91 (can't remember) DX hatch. He is wanting to do the conversion. I have all of the parts and just want to know how big of a headache it really is.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Come on guys. All the DX's in this forum, I know some one has done this conversion. I have the shifter, linkage, clutch cable, pedal box, flywheel, all the bolts and even the tranny. I have seen some info on the 5th generation and understand it to be difficult. I am guessing that is due to the fact that it is a hydro tranny. Just wondering if this is something I can help him with or if he will need to seek outside help.

I have heard that all holes are drilled and tapped. It should not be too hard. About like changing a clutch cable and throttle cable, and transmission allong with cutting a hole in the floor.

i'm about to do this myself. dont think its gonna be too hard if you have everything. i've looked under the dash and the pedals should bolt up easily cuz the extra bolts are already there, i THINK the shifter can also goes in easily, once you get the auto shifter out the hole is just blocked by a little plate or something and should be pretty straightfoward
i'm gonna be startin in like a month, so if you do it first, let me know how it goes

its not hard at all!! you might need to drill a hole for the clutch cable some cars came with the hole already there mine did not. If you have all the parts then its just a matter of swaping parts. When I did my conversion the only thing strange was the rear mount, the auto wouldnt work so I had to use an si moun. also make sure you leave the shift lever in PARK or NEUTRAL or else the starter will not kick in. I did the same thing a couple years back so email if you have any q's. HTH JOsh

PS you also need to drill 2 small hole for the shifter assembly. once you see it youll know what I'm talking about. good luck
