I fitted my Legalis-R on March 1st 2004 and in the last few months i have noticed it noisier than normal. At first i thought there was a hole in the exhaust pipe but inspection of the pipe showed that it was perfect with no rust or holes of any sort. Today i was driving through a tunnel which i havent been through for at least 6 months and as usual i screwed down the drivers window, slowed up, dropped the car into 3rd gear and floored it (like i do everytime travelling through this tunnel) and i knew immediately something was up with the exhaust as it was waaaay louder than before. Anywho when i got home i checked the piping again and agains found nothing so shone a light into the tail pipe and look what i found...

The inner baffled pipe has disintegrated inside 26 months...I am not impressed! I'm guessing heat and water getting in has caused this. What i'd like to know is whay fujitsubo go to the bother of making a stainless steel can and then fill it with cheap mild steel that wont last as long as the outer can itself...doesnt really make any sense, and its not like fujitsubo exhausts are cheap rubbish. I now have to look for a new exhaust as this one will probably get worse as more and more of the inner pipe falls apart

Nope a Fujitsubo Legalis-R
Wow i def. would of never guessed for this exhaust to start falling apart so soon. Did you actually purchase this new? I'd never think fujitsubo would cheap out on materials.

Yes it was new when fitted on 3/1/04 as i still have the receipt. If i had done huge miles in that period i could possibly understand but the car has covered less than 18k since then
Anyone know if the Mugen TL has mild steel or ss inner piping?????
