Mid Ohio track, World Challenge and Honda Challenge
Was wondering the same thing ...
edit ... from looking at WC practice times, I don't think they use the chicane.

not sure that a definitive statement means much but it will be the chicane per this:

I guess that pretty well clears it up. Jeremy L., you got a clean map you can post?

What kind of lap difference is it between the two?
Also, is the chicane similar like Watkins Glen's bus stop or not so much a chicane? Finally, anyone got a lap around the track with the chicane? Preferably with some data like speed, and G-loading. Will pay top dollar for it

Chicane is T2 & T3. 1.5-2.5 seconds depending on what type of car.

1-2 seconds tops, at least for the H5 crowd.
you'll take the right into it flat and then brake, likely downshift, hammer it briefly after you go left and then brake again for the long right hander to the back straight.
here is one of the first clips posted with the new pavement from someone in a bmw track event or some such thing.

i would dissagree....in an h1 car it you really need to brake 2 times....unless you want a handfull keeping the car straight for the 2nd brake zone...trust me...i tried it every way possible....

The chicane adds about 2-3 seconds, in my opinion. It's also one of my favorite parts of the track because if you know how to do it right, you can really eat up on people. I've only run the "pro course" once and found it quite boring. But, it certainly creates a big passing zone, making it better for TV.

You were correct the first time, Tom, we will be using the Chicane for ALL of our events this year, including the Championships in September.
As for the registration showing the Pro Course, that is another of those things that was set up by the old region management and still hasn't been fixed.
Regards,
Sam

It's not exactly the same as the Glen. For one thing, at the Glen, the bus stop comes in the middle of a long straight, so if you run the chicane, it means a much bigger time difference than if you don't; whereas, at Mid-Ohio, the chicane comes right before the keyhole (slow turn) anyway, and replaces what is otherwise a braking zone, so it doesn't slow you down as much. Also, the bus stop at the Glen takes you much further out from the flow of the track than the chicane at Mid-Ohio, which slows you down but just isn't as long a path as the bus stop.
They both slow you down, but I bet the bus stop at the Glen causes a bigger lap time difference than the chicane at Mid-Ohio...

P.S. Another difference is that the bus stop at the Glen is located right at the fastest point on the track, and you need to brake HARD to turn in for the bus stop. By contrast, at Mid-Ohio, you're getting up some speed entering turn 2, but the little straight from turn 1 (which is a fairly fast turn) doesn't allow you to get up that much speed. As a result, unlike the Glen, you need little to no braking to turn into the chicane, and you're still carrying quite a bit of speed after turn-in. You need to brake, though, to turn back to the left for the middle of the chicane.

Could Ohio racers tell me what is the average temp at mid Ohio track during the national, please? and would Mansfield close enough to stay during the national?
Thanks
Thanks
I don't know for sure but I want to say that Mid Ohio is around 15- 20 mins from mansfield. I just did a drving map on Yahoo and it said it was 12mins from Mansfield ( just the city not a certain spot) to lexington(not Mid Ohio). Maybe that will help you a little.
Yes, anybody can recommend a nice inexpensive hotel? An Internet connection is a plus.
Also, what are the rules about camping? Can we stay inside the trailer? Is shower facility near the paddock area?

I found this map of all the facilities http://www.midohio.com/track.aspx
For the camping rules go to http://www.midohio.com, then go to spectators, and then go down to camping. It won't let me copy and past the rules.
