Default Weight Savings - Swap out your interior !! :) pics posted

posted in v6p.net, but I copied it here as well
most people don't realize this ...

Ok
I swapped out my wife's civic ( eg - 92-95 ) coupe seats for integra seats last year
love the seats !! super comfy compared to the original honda civic seats

Almost a recaro feel to them.
I'm tall and wide, so I like to feel snug

now ...

I scored two more front integra ( 1994-1997 ) seats again, but this time, for the accord
ok ok before you start ... honestly think about this

weight ... it is your enemy in car industry
I've already saved a lot of weight with the tranny swap, the removal of A/C and minor gutting

well want to save some weight ?

first off I weighed in myself, then the two seats
1994-1997 accord eletric driver seat weighs 78 lbs on it's on - just scaled it
1994-2000 integra seat non eletric cloth / tissue weighs 32 lbs

approx 50 lbs right there

passenger seat differences I'll do tommarow more to come ...

there is a catch however ...
the seat rails only line up for one bolt out of the 4 but that is not much of an issue to arrange with a mig and some patience

by sunday I'll have integra seats and rails arranged in the accord, having an OE comfortable sport seat

the seat is also much lower since the eletric module is 4 inches in height worth of crap but it feels sooooo sweet !!

very easy to arrange the rails

PS : I paid 50$ for each seat

the accord passenger cloth non eletric weighs approx 44 lbs
the integra passenger cloth weighs approx 32 lbs

all in all I saved 60-65 lbs

I was also able to bolt down two bolts ( both console side ) on each by cutting a little bit of the thick *** floor carpet

next is to start with interior sanding, painting but that is project 3 out of 20
having to go make more boxes for my move out date
a lot better that I have folding seats driver and passenger now

I'm going to cut, weld and mig the rails from the accord seats to the integra seats
I just wanted to secure the seats a bit more until saturday - sunday afternoon

the rail difference is about 7" on the left hand side driver
the rail difference is about 7" on the right hand side passenger

I'll make it all work
seats are about 3.5 inches lower then the accord ones making a sedan feel more sporty like a coupe I'm loving it !!

you can go even futher with the weight savings

gutting the car, removing door panels, door trims, removing rear bench, seats, carpeting, trunk triming, spare tire, jackstand kit, power steering removal, abs system removal etc ...

I'm sure I'll add up all the weight savings one day, but right now I'm happier with a lighter front end

interesting, any pictures?

also, if you fit the integra seats in there with the Accord rails, you could probably just switch the integra seats for del sol seats. When I bought my 92 hatch, it came with integra seats, I switch them for del sol seats and they feel much more snug than the integra. The del sol seats also sit lower than the integra seats though. Perfect height in my hatch, but may be a bit too low for an accord though. So that may be a possibility in the future if you decide you want a tighter fitting OEM seat. Just a thought.

I'd bet that if he cleaned out his car, he'd most likely loose a few houndred pounds in dirt weight

post up a how-to with plenty of pictures if you can. It would be interesting to see what is involved with putting those into an Accord.

WTF?? He doesn't have time to clean the car, so yes, I'm sure he will have the time to put together a how-to.

I'll do an How to ...
I'll take pics

and the interior will be cleaned, certain parts will be dyed, and painted quite soon I just have not TAKEN the time

when I clean my cars it's a 3-4 hour process, and I never let anyone else touch my cars

My prelude seats seem really light and they could be a direct replacement not sure. I have the drivers seat unbolted if i become less lazy i will weight it soon, figured it may keep the options open and they are really sporty seats.

i dont see why they wouldnt fit, prelude was built from an accord platform, if not exact it should be minor modification needed

I simply asked if he could post a how-to it would be nice. I didn't tell him he had to or even that he had to right now. We all have other things going on in our lives, I'm just asking if he wouldn't mind posting that when he gets the chance.

So if you'd like to be so negative, go somewhere else because thats not welcome here.
