Default info on doin' a hybrid ?

i am just starting a swap project, i have a 92' civic hb , with a blown motor. i 'm looking for a v-tech . found one from a 93' del sol , stock 125 hp.my question is , can i squeeze approx. 200hp with bolt on (header, intake, ignition, ect. ) performance parts. or should i try and find a motor with more base hp to start out.i would like to keep it streetable, it will be a daily driver,i have checked around and it 's slim pickin's for motors in this area, unless theres a better place to look ?

Hey, here's a V-TECH:

You will never get 200hp out of a D16Z6 SOHC VTEC motor with just bolt-ons. Even a turbo or supercharger would be hard extracting 200hp also, much less normal bolt-ons. Even bolt-ons on DOHC motors won't get 200hp either. But seriously, a DOHC VTEC swap will be your best bet. There are many sites that detail the swap process, so just click these links provided and read up on them:

Hybrid Honda 5th-gen Civic swap page:

http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/5gtech.html

That tells you just about anything you'd want to know.

Now you know what to do, but where do you get your swap from? Here's a few excellent places:

Import Auto Salvage. THE best place for complete swaps. Best customer service IMO, and they give you every last piece needed to do the swap. Prices are a tad higher, but their service and thoroughness make up for that easliy.

Next is Honda Motors Online. Best prices I've ever seen on COMPLETE swaps. I've never ordered from them personally, but I've heard only good things about them, and their prices are great.

http://www.hondamotorsonline.com

Look to spend about $1,800 for an LS swap all the way up to $5,000 for a Type R swap fpr all the parts you need. GS-R swaps go for around $3,000-$4,000 depending on mileage, and the 2nd Gen B16A for your car runs about $2,350 or so. Labor will vary, but usually runs anywhere from $800-$1,200 for the B-series stuff done at a reutable shop.

I had the very same SOHC VTEC motor originally, and trust me they suck compared to the DOHC stuff - even if you put a supercharger or basic turbo kit on the SOHC.

Good luck with your search.

Go DOHC VTEC!!!

with that car, you have a lot of options. 94-01 gsr motor (170hp); 92-97 del sol vtec (160hp); 99-00 civic si (160hp) and 97-01 integra type r (195hp). i say these motors and nothing else because they bolt in and would be street legal if that is your plan. do a little more research, the link provided above has a lot of good info.
Also this link is pretty good. It gives you an example of the potential of gsr motors in 92-95 civics. http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/ram/text.html
