Alright I bought this EG about 3 days ago, the day I drove it home it was doing fine. Then I took it around the block and reved it a little higher, then the car turned off. I had to keep my foot on the gas pedal all the way back home or it would stall. So I checked to see if I had a fuel leak, and there was not one...Can't be the fuel pump or else it would start at all. No back fireing, but I did notice dark smoke coming out the exhuast...that is new. I went to adjust the throttle cable, no luck same thing, then I tryed adjusting the little screw under the throttle rotor, once again no luck....So I really need some help now, cuz I am out of ideas!

I also changed the spark plugs, to see if that would change anything, once again nothing...
are you throwing any cels? and i just bought a b16 eg too but mine had the engine light pulled
if ur not throwing any cels then check your ecu and make sure its the right one for the motor.

Well like it says on the thread topic, B16 with P72 ecu, so it is not running the correct ecu.
And as far as the TPS, that's something that I will have to check, but what would cuase this...?

when u adjusted the srew on the bottom of the tb, you threw off the tps signal. adjust the tps using a volt meter. it should be .5V at closed throttle and 4.5 at wide open throttle. u should get a p30 ecu or chip ur current one to eliminate the iab sensor. the ecu is looking for the butterflies, but the b16 doesnt use that sensor

I see, but the problem was there before I adjusted the TB screw. As far as the ECU, I will be changing to a PR3. I am doing this because I need the car to pass BAR, after that I'll be puting in the P30...
u are not going to past bar with a pr3. they check to see if you have the correct ecu with the corresponding motor. they use the books and look at everything. what ecu you have, yr of the motor, and that you have all the smog equipment that was manufactured for that motor installed and in working condition.

Well the car is a 95' Civic CX HB, Iam currently running a B16hmo OBD1 it is a 96', so what is the ecu that I should be running. Because I thought that a PR3 was OBD1 USDM, and the P30 was OBD1 JDM...I am aware of the rest!

Thanks bro, on the correction of ECU's...I know I can't use the P72...I don't want it either it drives shitty on it...But that's the way it came...You see I, just bought this car about 3 days ago...
Remember...the P72 does have knock sensor and will throw a CEL around 3500rpm. Plus, the VTEC engagement point is a little off from the stock B16. I came across the same problem a while back when I was temporarily using my buddy's GSR ecu running my B16. It did not run like it should. Do yourself a favor and get a hold of a P28 and chip it. Worked for me!
