ok ive read a couple other posts that seemed similar but didnt fit my description exactly so my problem is i have a high pitch whine which at first i thought was a belt noise until i opened the hood and the noise was coming from the other side of the engine away from the belts. i listened by the intake and i swear it sounded as though it was coming from the tranny but im not exactly sure.

btw. its a 91 lx with f22b dohc nonvtec swap if that matters

it also has short ram intake but i swear its from the trans.

 

grab a long screwdriver and use it as a stethoscope, try listening to the Dist for bearing noise as well

well figured out the problem me and a guy at work used his stethescope and it turns out it is from the trans, when i push down the clutch noise goes away we easily decided its the throwout bearing thanks for the help
