Yeah I did a search, maybe I'm searching for hte wrong stuff but I can't seem to nail what i"m trying ot find with it..
my friend put a B16 in a civic he picked up, discard the fact that I really like the power it puts out..he put an ACT stage 1 clutch in there...AEM intake, DC sports one piece 4-2-1 headers, short throw shifter (skunk 2), and an Apexi N-1 exhaust...ya...great...okay, well I went to take it for a drive today, the clutch was really....TIGHT...now I heard from somebody else here that the stage 1 was a POS and that it's basically the same thing as a stock honda clutch...so is this tight feeling coming from the clutch, or is there some other factors involved?
PS: I Know it's installed right, and he knows nothing is wrong with it...yea, so I've never worked witah stage 1 clutch, are they normally that tight? (I'm talking maybe twice as tight as a stock honda clutch.. (hard to push down))
Also, what kind of computer would that use? Not sure what kinda hatch it is (92-95, I know that..) - it has the 99-00 Si B16 in it now.. and still running the old computer (which was a SOHC I believe) -- runs just fine...he's gonna swap it out, he has plans to get a new computer for it...but I was j/w which it was...
any help is thx, any flame is no thx ;(

One a ACT stage 1 clutch is a clutch that can to launch the car better and is alot stronger then original. It also help to free up a little bit of power. Now to the OP it is normal for it feel stiffer because it is capable of hold much more power then the original clutch.

correct ecu for a 99-00 civic si b16a2 is a p2t if the engine is still obd2. If its obd1 i believe you can use a p72, p30 or p28 i think.
I have an ACT ckutch and they dnt list their clutches by stages. U can get different kits but not stages. And technically i dnt think a clutch frees up power. It can help put the power to the ground by not slipping like a weak factory clutch.
I was just posting bc everybody says ACT Stage whatever clutch and there is no such thing.

yeah they're not number stages but they're in 3 different sets, forgot how they have it worked but there's 3 different types, (3 being best, one being worst), it works like the stage system, they just dont' call it that, thx for ur help tho
Depends on what you mean by "best" and "worst". I have a stage one in my CRX (cable tranny) and yeah, it was REALLY tight for the first 800 miles or so. Its definatly gotten easier to drive, but its still like 3x tighter than any other car I've driven. Personally I'd perfer stock, if I could do it again.

Alright, good, that's what I was lookin for, actually I prefer a tight....tight everything, tight bolts, tight *****, tight brakes, tight clutch...tight is good...I just drove one that was actually claimed to be "about to go" and it was still like 2x as hard as a stock one, but i"m fine w/ that, I might get one just for how stiff it is (and the fact that me and that clutch just bind...........)
I WOULD go with a stage 3 but I'm not pushing out that much hp...I could probably get away with the stock clutch...but I like the feel of the stage 1 better
Aight, I'm out, thx for the help all

If you like stock you could go with an unorthodox unsprung Kevlar clutch.
Full-Face Kevlar Clutch Kits - Rigid Hub (Ultra G) 070600500

The pressure plate feels really weak just like the stock one, but it's supposed to hold a lot more power. Only thing that's wierd is that if you try to ride the clutch it feels jerky unless you have it at just the right spot.
