which motor do i have?
i saw on one site before it said thier was several motors all said 1.6tho. im just curious if thiers a way to see what kinda power my motor has or any other info about it
the numbers on my motors timing belt cover says....
xp2r-a6
d16y8-4596550
can anyone tell me anymore info about my motor?
just incase i do need parts for my car id like to know exactly what it is
like for my truck it has 4size motors V6, 305,350, and 454.
id just like to know about it so i dont go up to the parts counter and look like a retard.LOL
id like to start taking off parts of my motor one day at a time and start painting a few to match the cars black.
just cause it looks so bland under the hood
and paint is cheap enough

nothing to exterem but like valve cover and timing belt cover painted black.
im not going for the ricer look but i would like it to be more custom look

That's nto really saying a lot...they don't neccessarily need to know about cars to work there...I mean first off, if you discount the fact that everything's done by the vin#, then ur still left with the fact that most of them don't know that much...but a lot of them do....pple here refer to engines as like a B16 motor where the rest of the outside e-world refers to 'em as an "99 si motor"..
You'd be surprised how often the engine codes aren't used :-\

no, they are far dumber than that, trust me. the guys in the bay know what they are doing, the guys behind the parts counter don't know ****, but how to look up part numbers and swipe your credit card. Maybe its just the guys in memphis, its not exactly the most promising gene pool in the country.

naw, naw, I hear ya, that's why I said "it's not really saying a lot." The guys at parts don't know anything, just know how to look **** up on the computer, unfortunetely spending too much time at a garage that deals in rebuilding cars I've spent excess time at dealerships and I can honestly say anybody can do that job... No experience required, just look it up in the database, and if they got a question, they're usually right next door to the garage area :-P
