pics of the trailer in progress, aka: the "truck"
since I don't have my truck yet, just an suv, this is what I am in the process of building.
6'8" long 4' 2" wide.
axles is off a 89' dodge caravan.
hubbies came with axle!

just a note, lots of grinding, rewelding, etc before it is ready for paint. I have two senior students that were looking for a large senior project in my advanced class so they are building it under my supervision.

do you have some pics of the end where the trailer hitch is? i was thinking of building something simalar and was just courious
axle was given to me. I have about 15 bucks in new bearings and grease on it. gotta get two used 205-70r14 tires for it and get some fenders from somewhere like boaters world, that I have to check out for where to get some spec fenders for it. I will have 250 in metal in it when done. it will have an expanded metal floor and a 4ft tall gate that will fold down to the ground with expanded metal on it as well. then gonna prime and single stage black it with my old gravity feed gun.
i will take some pics of the front of it on monday. friday is looking like a sick day *cough, cough*
.................visions of fish dancing in my head.

looks like a pretty bouncy design. Was your original length of the trailer the length of the springs, then you added later? Just wondering why the front spring hanger is at the front of the trailer, and not centered.

i was gonna say that same thing. also with the axle so far forward and some weight in the back will cause the hitch to lift up making the rear end of your SUV lighter.... might want to add some length from the axle forward.

all good replies. yes the additional length was added. for the majority of the use of the trailer it will be for things you could easily have thrown in the back of a small pickup truck. I won't have lots of weight on this trailer for long trips. Definately not intended to carry anything much over the size of a small/medium size lawn mower or a 4wheeler from time to time. thanks for your guy's opinions and thoughts..........
