H22 into a Ef9 hatch
i got a hatch that i traded some subs and an amp for its a 90 civic hatch std w/ 116k on stock mpfi d15b2 non v-tec engine and a 4speed manual tranny. lol. i got a guy that wants to trade my b18c1 blocked b16a1 headed ls tranny swap w/ 96 b16 cams and gears, stage 4 bronze clutch, 4-1 headers, ngk spark plugs and wires, itr polished intake tb, skunk2 intake mani, aem cold air intake. and he wants to give me a h22a swap w/ 90k miles and 5 speed tranny and everything stock. now i was wondering how hard it would be to put the engine in my hatch??what mounts could i use? what shiftlinkage?what wiring harness and ecu lmk asap anything will help thanks alot guys for all the help
Well there are several ways to do it. You could use hasport mounts and linkage and some hybrid axles, but the hasport kit puts the engine low to the ground and the oil pan sits low.
Another way you could do( this is what I did) is to get a kit known as the h2b kit. Its an adapter plate that allows you to bolt any b-series tranny up to the prelude block. So u would use b-series swap mounts except for the driver side mount. In the h2b kit they suppply a mount that u have to weld up. (It costed me $20 to have the shop do it. For the h22a swap you have to cut your framerail on the driver side to clear the crank pulley.
Its hard work but it pays off. All u need for the harness is to convert it to mpfi then getta ecu jumper harness.

The driver side mount is to plates. One bolts up to the motor and the other bolts up to the drivers b series swap mount. You just have to put the motor in, line up the plates how you want em then go get em welded.

This kit is about 900 though

Don't do H22. IF you do, do it in somthing other than a EF/CRX.

I agree. You're going to spend alot of money to get that h22 in there and there's not gonna be room for anything else and it's gonna handle like crap with that huge h22 up front. Not to mention you're getting hosed on the deal. The b-series setup you got with all those bolt ons is worth alot more than a stock h22 motor and tranny. Stick with the B. Just my $.02

agreed. Plus, installation will be much easier with the B-series.

the 2.2 is a lot of free torque tho...
i can see why he wants it.
up to you, you could boost and tune that b for what your about to spend on the h from start to finish...

Sure the tq is tempting but just like you said, he could boost the b for that kind of money and would be a whole lot faster. Where as with the h22 there is going to be cutting and hammering and forcing things, there wouldn't be room for anything else besides the motor.
