help! can you drive around with the a/c mount unbolted??
I went to work on my a/c on my 93 hatch and goofed up the threads on the end of that mount/bracket for it. It's the one that jutts out to the frame rail and has the rubber mount that bolts up under the frame rail.
I got everything back together but I cant put the big 19mm nut on the end since the threads are fubar.
can I drive around like this no problem for 2 weeks until I get home to charleston to get the spare bracket I have there with good threads on it??

yes, you will be fine. the motor will rock a little bit, but nothing to get worried over. pleanty of people on here run without them because it is a "cleaner" look...
I removed mine and my car shook like crazy. I don't see how this isn't happening to others, but I'm never going to remove mine again. Just remove it and see what happens. Could work out just fine for you.

vise, pb blaster, big breaker bar.

That mount acts as a motor mount and if you don't have inserts or aftermarket mounts your car might shake and it won't put its full power to the ground. You should be fine to drive it for a while but I wouldn't rip on it just to be safe. My car ran like crap without it so I put it back on since it only weighs about 5lbs.
You should be okay. Just make sure all your other mounts have the proper bolts intact. You don't want to know what happened to me when I left my AC bracket off and "1" bolt missing.
actually I do. what happened?? seriously, I want to know the worst case scenario.
I mean, I'm only going to be driving on it like this for a week at max until I can get to the other one.
I mean, do the people that remove the a/c system still retain that bracket just for the hell of it??
why is it there if the car has a front/rear and two side main mounts?? its almost like they dont do anything if this is such an important bracket??

it's just to keep it steady, the upper two on the sides bear all the weight. i drove without that and the one on the tranny for a few days with no problems. but when i shifted above 4k the motor jiggled a little bit more than usual. you'll be fine, just don't do hard high rpm shifts.

i used to beat on my car every day and it never had those touque mounts at all, not once ever had a problem at all.

In my case, the top two bolts (driver side mount) were intact while the bottom was missing. I drove around like this for a good bit until one day, the two upper bolts weakened up. It broke off at the holes and the motor dropped breaking the driver side axle in half. Luckily, I just had to "re-weld"/"re-tap" the upper mounting holes. DOWNTIME SUCKS!!!

Nope, they're all pretty fresh.
