input shaft bearing dumb question b series
My feeling is that the answer would be YES, although indirectly.
The reason for wording it that way is that when the bearing goes bad, the seperator between the ***** falls apart and those parts go all over the place inside the transmission. That junk could cause just about anything.

If the clearance is bad enough it could cause the mainshaft gears to clash with the countershaft, but I've never seen one do that. If it is very severe it will be hard to shift and maintain any gear.
Most of the time the ***** get trapped on the magnet, or in the general area, since the magnet is right below it. When it gets bad the snap ring bearing on the countershaft blows up too, and lodging the cage just behind the 3/8" sealing bolt on the end of the tranny that splits the case open.
What is the problem you are having?
