Default New car, ideas, opinions.

new to the forum... here it goes..

okay, so i just picked this up a few weeks ago, haven't done much at all with it really. kind of broke since my money is going in a thousand directions it seems. but anyway, i know it's beat up but i have all the faith in the world.. first goal - get rid of all of the **** the previous owner did to this thing. it's an 88 crx, 190k miles, had a front end accident about 6 months ago or so, but it's my first car and i really just want something to work on and to call my own. my brother has an 89 crx Si, and i love the thing, thats why i decided to get one of my own.

here come the pics....

(i did not paint the valve cover, and did not put in that god awful "intake")

(notice the hood, that is the result of the front end accident.)

(sanding i had to do since the previous owner removed all of the trim and bondo'd the **** out of it and i guess spray painted it )

(battery relocated to the hatch, he didn't even put it in any kind of battery box, so that needs to be done obviously)

(front bumper before.... no, i DID NOT put on those "fog lights" and yeah, the kid actually sanded down parts of the bumper and put bondo on it for no reason...)

(afterwards, since i hated that the ugly *** blue was on the bumper...)

I haven't had it long enough to do what i want but it seems to be a weekend worker. first thing i want to get done is to make it look completely stock and then i will start to the engine work once i have the money available. i have gotten the same response from every other forum... which is "junk yard" or "not worth it" but i mean, it's my first car and i really need something to keep me occupied so i stay out of trouble. just let me know what you think and any input would be great. thanks guys.

I would sugest getting a lightweight racing battery (unless you have a system) and mounting it in the back. Then run 2Ga wire under the carpet up to the firewall, then through it, to the fusebox. Ground the battery somewhere in the rear, You want to sand off the paint where you do decide to ground to. Also use 2ga for the ground, and make it as short as possible. Also, VERY IMPORTANT, you want to get a circuit breaker and put it inbetween the battery and fusebox, ideally as close to the battery as possible.

Heres a great link with even more info:

its wired right, i checked that out first when i saw it was there. but i still need a battery box. he basically just put 2 steel bars and screwe them into the back of the car so it is 'supported'.

btw: nice av tegg, thos go for $30 'round here :D
