help on picking a swap
i have a 90 crx dx and wanted to do a swap. i have just the frame so there is no motor or trany. i have 2500 to spend on everything and the car i just drive on the weekends so its not a daily driver. i love to race at night. any help to smoke these guys will be appreciated
Typical answer, but do a b16 swap. It's extremely fun to drive and is quite fast. I've got a b16 w/bolt ons and y1 LSD tranny and it's a blast. Revs up to 8k which sounds great with the vtec and the transmission has great acceleration. Mounts for this swap used to be expensive cuz Hasport was the only guys around but you can get a b-series mount kit for as cheap as $120 on ebay (not recommended though). But places like avid and innovative mounts are great products and very cheap. Hmotorsonline has 1st gen b16 swaps for $1500 and a good set of mounts will run you about $250 and even after shipping (if you don't go local) you'll still have some $$ for a few bolt ons. You could also do a cheap turbo setup for that amount on your stock engine (I'm saying this cuz I know someone else will). But just so you know, my friend and I have identical cars. He has a sohc zc with a budget turbo setup (about 8 psi) and I have a b16 w/ bolt ons and I'm still a little bit faster. B16's are simple and efficient performance motors. If you had more $$$ of course there's better options but for that amount I'd say b16 is your best bet.
i would go b18b and boost it. they r one of the best motors honda has 4 boost. or u could go dohc zc turbo. my friend had an 89 hatch with a zc and greddy turbo. his best time was a 12.55@7.5psi tien basic damper kit and SHITTY 205/40/16 hankook ventus hrII.

He said he was on a $2.5k budget. I wouldn't think he'd be able to do an ls swap (with mounts/shift linkage/ etc...) and be able to boost it for under $2500. He'd probably be able to manage a decent turbo setup on his stock motor but there's no way he'd be able to afford a Greddy kit along with a ZC motor...
