VIN number on transmission
hey guys I just bought a civic a few weeks ago with a b16 block and a b-series trannsmission. After cleaning up all the grease and gunk on the stuff that I bought I found out that the VIN numbers were removed from the transmission and the Block.
do they normally remove VIN numbers when a shop does a swap? or did I get screwed and buy a car with a stolen b16 swap?
I am not using the block that came with the car I just got a JDM SIRII b16 so that is not a big deal but am I safe using the transmission? because I need to get it smogged and I may need to get it cleared with a BAR referee. thanks in advance for your help

I did not do the swap the car was not running when I bought it. I have no clue where the previous owner did the swap. I am putting the JDM SIRII motor into the car myself.
no it is not a jdm engine I can see the rivets that used to hold the vin number onto the block and on the transmission there are 2 holes where the vin number is supposed to be here is a picture.

oh and also the block is a b16A2 so it can't be JDM since jdm b16's have no numbers after the b16A.
oh and I already did pick up a new motor but I cannot afford to get another tranny right now.
