Tach jumps, engine surges
This is more of a "search"able post for those who are having this problem.
Replaced most parts of my fuel and ignition system. Then finally got my car running and the tach was jumping around like crazy. Then it died once on a drive. No problems for a day. Died twice on a drive the next day.
After that I couldn't drive it a mile without it stalling out (and by this time it wouldn't start right back up). Finally was able to coast it into a parking lot and happen to have, sitting in the car, the old ignition coil I had. Replaced that and runs good as gold.
Quick question though. It was throwing a code 3, MAP sensor, would that have just been thrown off by the ignition coil or should I go ahead and replace that?
