Rubbing alcohol. Goo Gone if there's any weird sticky stuff.

Be sure to let that stuff dry off before applying the tank pad. And do it right the first time - the adhesive loses its "stick" if you have to lift it off and reapply.

Does that little pad actually help? I had one on my old F3, but didn't see any benefit. I've yet to put one on my F4i. I'd probably get a tank bra before that sticker.

My bike came with a leather tank bra, and it was gross looking. It also covered up the wing graphics on the tank of my F4i.
I took it off and got a pro grip carbon fiber tank pad. It keeps my belt buckle off the tank, any potentially any zipper from my jacket. But mostly, i think it's a decorative piece.
I would say that where the insides of my knees rub is probably more prone to wear. I'd like to get one of those clear tank bras that just sticks on. My friend got the Mag-tank bra or something that's just a magnetic one and is also colored matched. The color was fine, but the fit was terrible, and he couldn't get it to look right.

As for cleaning, i didn't even clean mine and there's no way i could try and peel it off now. But, rubbing alcohol or goo gone for big stuff will help clean anything up if you need it.
I think another important thing is to protect the edges of the pad, and use honda polish or some other kind of protectant on it. Try and keep the clear coat in good condition, cause once it starts to peel off, it's nasty, and then it's a pain in the *** to try and remove the pad.

Around the summer time, I hit a LOT of bugs when riding. For some odd reason, their dead bodies collect near my crotch area, and end up getting smoooooshed against the tank, leaving weird blotches on the tank. A tankpad would make it easier to clean off the buggies.
