Default Best Buy Warranty, How to

How do I mess up my CD player so I can get a new one. I have a sony I bought a year and a half ago. I bought it with the Best Buy replacement warranty. I used to work at Best buy a long time ago and when I did they didn't ry to fix sony, thats why I bought a sony because I knew I would want this one to break so I could get a voucher towards another cd player. I want to break with out it looking like It was my fault. How do I do that?

You could hook it up to power with the wires switched (pos to neg, neg to pos), but they might figure out that it's your fault. Another way I can think of is to disconnect the speakers, play some music at full volume, and then short out the speaker wires. I don't think that they can prove if it was a short or a manufacturing defect.

I like the idea of disconnecting the speakers and turning up the volume but what exactly would I have? I'm thinking disconnect the speakers turn the volume all the way up and then touch the wires together on all speakers or just some?

Either way. Or hook up the speaker outputs to a car batt. That should fry the output stage in the headunit. Or if you want to have more fun, plug them into the wall. Prepare for big bang/sparks and a tripped circuit breaker in your panel.

Just take it back and say its not working. Most of the time theyll not even check. If anything theyll ask you to take it to the install bay to get it checked out. Thats where you give the guy a 20 and he/she will say its broken. But most of the time we dont care well just devo it and give you credit.

How I know? I work at bestbuy at my store the customer service people dont care and most of them are hot!!!!

romoracing do you work in customer service? do they still devo Sony headunits? what other headunits do they devo? kenwood? alpine? I used to be a cashier at BB 6 years ago and I remember on sony headunits they would devo them. I think I'll try to take it there and say something wrong with the amp preouts. I don't think they would be able to check that to easily.

thanks for your replys

plugging it into the wall I think would fry the wires. They would definitely say thats not a manufacturer's defect.

no problem *** - it was my pleasure

Seeing as you are going to do this anyway, and I'd rather you not electricute yourself (just cause I think you are an idiot and a drain on our economy doesn't mean I want you to get hurt), just pull a ton of current through the amp remote and it will blow, rendering the amp remote useless - voila blown headunit

yea, you try that, then see how you feel when it is shipped back un-fixed. then they stick you with the $25 diagnostic fee then void your service plan. great idea.

I definately donot take the $20 offers, iv allready had people try that on me.

Now, since the managers know im an honest employee iv gotten a promotion, now im the head of the department which means more money...now I make way more than the few $20 offers that I have gotten from people

But seriously, why would you post on the internet that you are going to commit fraud? ...let alone ASKING how to commit fraud, not a good idea at all. EVen if you were wanting to do this, you are 24, i think you should be able to figure it out on your own....

the beautiful thing about the internet is privacy protection. Granted I am sure you could figure out my info if you had a lot of time and money on your hands but it wouldn't matter. Nothing would hold up in court, because of privacy protection laws. Besides it wouldn't be worth the money it would cost to hire lawyers. I am glad you are a honest employee but the company you work for is not honest and a lot of the sales people are not as well. Have you ever visited http://www.bestbuysux.org. there is more than enough stories on there to show how much of a best buy it is not! I Used to work for best buy and know the things they told us to sell PRP & PSP. I Have been mislead with every PRP and PSP purchased. Did you know that the company you work for had a civil action suit against them because of there Bull S. PSP & PRP. Have you ever searched for them on BBB website. Ha its ridiculous how many people they scam with there PSP & PRP. I only know all this because I was ripped off by them as well as my friends. BB has the worst Customer service I have ever seen and managers are like 17 year old high school girls in 30 year old mens bodies. I seriously saw A customer try to make a complaint with a manager and the manager said "I can't do anything for you" then walked away leaving the girl at the regester to deal with the customer. Yeah so BB sucks no offense to anyone who works for them. BB is the crook

A stereo is what couple hundred dollars? Seems a rather petty crime.

As mentioned turned the volume all the way up short the speaker wires to ground.

Or short the remote to ground.
