Default Your opinions on block guards?

Do you think the block guards really save yourself some money? or do you think they arent worth a ****??

I got one welded in my block...
Darton ductile sleeves w/ nuformz block guard welded in.

The only issue I have heard about is uneven heat dissipation at the top of the cylinder where the blockguard is (it gets hotter than the rest of the cylinder). However, I can not confirm that this is actually a problem, perhaps someone else who has experience with one can chime in.

That, and the arguments about how to actually put them in the block. Welding is said to distort the cyinders.

BLock guards are pointless, especially since you have sleeved already. The block isnt going to be any stronger with the welded block guard. The Iron Ductile is good enough for so much power, and its a waste of money to do the block guard.

We've pushed 900hp on Open deck sleeves and All Motor guys are doing Open deck all the time with super big bores.

looks to me like it would be pretty restrictive for coolant flow.

I'd prefer posting over a block guard.
