which is the best motor to boost
Which is the best motor to boost and why for a integra 4 door looking to make 400+ hp to compensate for the wait. Already have a t3t4 60 trim off my last civic . not to worried about the cost at this point. just wanting to know what people think and why and pros and cons. example ls , ls-vtec (gsr or type r head) cr-vtec which head, gsr , type r low compression, h22 sleeved, or not sleeved with Mahle pistons 9:1. whatever motor I decide on I will be building the bottom end at least.thanks for the help!

??? The 4 door is only 100lbs heavier then the DC. You need to search you didnt give us any info on what your gonna being using this for, drag, track ect.. Is it going to be DD of just a weekend car? IMO I like the LS block's, but to each their own.

oh ok, well if you are gonna have a b18b, then thats a good place to start, you might as well just keep that block..I would then have to say build the bottom end and get yourself a VTEC head

which vtec head and why not just put in a b18c1. I need to know why you choose these motors is it the stroke, the strengh, the bore, the cost......what makes one more ideal then the next.thanks
a 00 GSR coupe and a 00 LS Sedan are only 60 pounds apart actually.
and even the heaviest automatic sedan 94-01 weighs roughly the same as a RSX type S or EP hatch...

everybody is saying b16 head because in stock form it flows better that the gsr head, but if you aiming for 400+hp i doubt you would stay any head in stock form. i would go gsr, for the added compression. and people are saying to use the ls block because you already have it and it has lower compression than the gsr and type r, but still has stronger sleeves than the b20, but then again at 400hp who is going to use stock sleeves.
first of all 400 seems like a **** loud for a street Honda, and second i think you will run better 1/4's with less power, due to the traction problems front wheel drive car face, just my opinion, take it or leave it.

so you think the gsr sleeved would be the best motor.
400 hp isn't that much for the street my built d16z6 pushed 300hp in a ef hatch and 230 torque on a dyno. stock sleeves 3 years before I sold it still run strong.
And yes traction can be a problem but its got some lag so unless Iam launching it ,it should be fine. thanks for the advice

Build your bottom end and get a vtec head. If u need a head i will be selling my jdm type-r head next month as soon as i move. H22 would be nice alot of money, time, and knowledge to get it up n runin but if you go ls vtec with a built bottom end no real need for H22

No it doesn't. It is just cheaper and easier to find.
To answer the question...
Ls vtec would be my vote. If you are building it, it doesn't matter what block you use.
