Default d15b2 block with d16y8 head

hey guys, i found a d15b2 block out of a 90 dx. this will be going into my 96 ex with a y8 head ... will that work and will i need any sort of tuning to compensate for the 10.5/1 CR? what head bolts and timing belt should i use? also will the stuff off of my y8 block (alt, water pipe, water pump etc) bolt to the b2 block? for the wiring i'm going to run obd2, i've bypassed the y8's knock and ckf sensors, is there anything else different for this block?

i tried asking in the 92-00 forum but got no response.

Vx timing belt... you can use NEW stock d series head bolts..if your going to do it right just by engine parts for that engine.. ie: water pump for d15bs and so on.. thats all i know... i think.. did you try doing a search?

i did search, not many results for d15b2 d16y8, and b2 and y8 aren't indexed. are you sure about the vx timing belt???? i would think either the b2 or y8 belt would be what i want...

when i was going to get a z6 block (before i got scammed by spoonsports12 .. more on that later), i was told i need 9 z6 bolts and 1 y8 one over by the vtec solenoid. so i was planning on using 9 b2 bolts and 1 y8 bolt but is that not right?

I have the exact plans for my d15b2. I posted earlier and one guy did the same thing and its about 10.5 - 10.8 :1 which i know is high but he said everythings fine just run premium. He said hes using the stock fuel pressure regulator and everything like that.

You need to use the Y8 timing belt. Everything else from your Y8 block should bolt up. Just curious as to why you are doing a mini-me in your car? Is the Y8 bottom no good?

Y8 timing belt and get an adjustable cam gear. Deck height is different between the d16 and d15 blocks.

A fuel pressure regulator will not help you with lower compression to run 87. If you need to run 87 I would say find a d16 block or a different head.

hmmm i really really don't want to pay for 93 .. what about 89 or 91?

how much off will the timing be with just the y8 belt and stock gear? will it just have a little slack in it or will it run like ****?

thanks for all your help guys, i just got hired today so i need to get this running asap.

I run my d15b2 with y8 head on 91 without any detonation problems.

If you dont get an adjustable cam gear then you will be off by one full tooth on the cam gear. So you retard your cam by that one tooth, then advance the your distributer all the way. Even at full advancement you will still be retarded.... The car will still run and make power but it wont be ideal.

To make your life eaiser, I would look for a y8 or z6 block. Or sell the y8 head and see if you can find a d15 vtec head.
