I have a extra Y8 head that I don't use ..

Is ther gains by bolting the Y8 head on the z6 block...?

Well I was going to do this swap but decided not to because it cost me more then I had. SO yeah you have to get a new timing belt and it's always best to get new water pump. There isn't really a significant gain by doing this I know that the ports on the Y8 are larger so you get a little more comp. You will gain maybe 1-2hp and 1-3ft torque. Everything of course should bolt on without other things it's just better to get everything replaced on the head. Get new seals and gaskets.

I blew a huge hole in my block a few months back, the engine had around 250k on it. I searched around and bought a block (D16y8 block) and bolted it up to a new D16z6 head.

I think thats what it was? Or maybe they were switched.. Who knows, either way the car feels a little different.. Most likely because the new block and head only have around 94k on them.
