b16 fitting question
I am doing a B16A1 motor swap into a 88 dx body I have been reading around alot and I havent found to much information on how well its gonna fit, mainly about what I need. A few specifics that I have heard and I was wondering if they were true. When swapping into the bay do you have to either dent or cut out a whole for the alternator to fit, I also heard that you have to cut the front cross member or bend it out of the way in order the the exhause manifold to fit down, the only other thing that comes to mind is about the wiring harness, will the computer as well as the motor harness hook right up? If anything else that has to be done, I would really appreciate the help
no you dont need to cut a hole in the car...you just make a decent size dent in the innder fender for alternator clearence..
you dont have to cut the crossmember for the stock exhaust manifold....with alof of aftermarkets you do have to notch it a bit for clearence,,or get a different crossmember/traction bar setup..
for wiring..basically you'll have to convert your dx harness you multi point fuel injection,,then add the 4 wires for vtec into the engine harness and pin them into the ecu clips...knock sensor,2nd o2 sensor, vtec solenoid and vtec pressure...the obd0 b16 ecu will plug right in the stock crx wiring harness..
look in the faq thread at the top of page for more info

Hey thanks for the help, another question although did come to mind, with the b16 i heard you are required to get aftermarket motor mounts, is this true, and why? Do the mounts line up different? Could I cut and reweld by any chance?
