riding sick? your thoughts, experiences, and advice
Today, I drove home for Mother's Day tomorrow (do something nice for mom/wife!) However though, this week I have gotten progressively more sick. My dad is taking me to urgent care tomorrow because i have been coughing up blood and have a temp of 100 (pneumonia?). So, on my 2 hour drive home, I was thinking what the situation is with riding a motorcycle sick? Have you done it before? If so, how bad/good was it? Any piticular advice? More or less just curious on everyones opinion. So lets hear it!
cold yeah as long as I'm not feeling lightheaded or have a headache. have to stop every now and thent o blow my nose or else I'm forced to sniffle which =
anything worse though I'd definetely not. just too much of a risk of not having your full concentration on the road

Stay hydrated.
I try not to ride if I'm sick. Motorcycling is pretty exhausting and my energy level is usually real low when I'm sick. Plus, the additional air into my helmet doesn't help a sore throat.

I always do it, i get better quicker when i'm outside and doing things. This is why i always work when im sick. Also spending all day covered in blankets and stuff only makes your sickness last even longer.

ugh I'm half glad that it poured toda. I was thinking of going riding even though my nose and throat were a lil iffy... Now I feel like utter **** and had trouble even concentrating while driving...

Same here.
I usually get dizzy and lightheaded when I'm sick. Trying to balance a motorcycle when your lightheaded is not a good idea.

i think it's up to you. I've riden when i was sick and being outside and doing things helps me to feel better, as it was said before.
If i'm really coughing or not feeling well i'd definitely not ride though. A coughing attack in a car is managable, but you don't want it to happen while your riding.

yea, thats what made me start thinking cuz i would start coughing for a minute or two straight and i REALLY had to focus on the road while driving and i figured during riding that would make it pretty damn difficult.
thanks for the input everyone

I rode 1 time while I was sick and will never do it again. It was more of a distraction than anything. Trying to wipe my runny nose with a helmet on sucks especially with leather gloves, not the best feeling. Also having that hazy/cloudy mindstate while sick could be dangerous to others on the road, and yourself.
I ride with colds all the time .. i have to, as my bike is my only mode of transporation. I notice it took alot longer then normal to get over a bad cold, and that is came back several times after i thought i was better.
Then again .. i have to ride to work at midnight and home at 8am all the time

As most of the others have said, don't ride if you are drowsy or have a severe enough illness that would make it tough for you to concentrate. Then again, it would also suck coughing/sneezing in a helmet.

its funny when you have your helmet on and have to sneeze and you automatically try to cover your face and nose.
