Default replaced ignition but the security light is on

How do I get the security light to turn of after I replace the igniotion. The reason why I replace that is because somebody tried to get me for my car.

Do you mean the green immobilizer light? If you replaced the ignition lock cylinder with a new one, the new keys would have to programmed.

i doubt they do, hence any good mechanic will have snap on tools, and more than likely buy the domestic tool set, instead of the honda tool set.

I can't imagine how the keys could be programmed without the OEM Honda scan tool. Even then, you have to use the VIN to get a vehicle specific code from the Honda dealer database before the tool will allow you to program a new set of keys. Worst case scenario, have your uncle's GM dealership do the installation, then tow it to the closest Acura dealership with proof of ownership, and have them program the new keys. Usually the charge for this is 1 hr/ labor.

the thing is I went up to the acura dealership and they told me that the keys don't need to be programmed. This is kinda wack to me.

Hey, I resent that...

My snap on scanner isn't biased...

Whoever you talked to must not have been very knowledgeable. A lot of times the service writers and parts counter people have no clue. Brand new immobilizer keys always have to be programmed. Try talking to a tech there, someone who's been with Acura for a while preferably (not the 18 yr. old lube tech in other words). Good luck.
